2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Wisconsin got a total gift from Lindenwood 1:20 in, and then Hensley made 27 saves in the period. 1-0 Wisconsin after 1.
I was going to make a comment about only being up 1-0 on Lindenwood but then I saw the shots were 28-3 and closed the "reply" box.

Listening to the 2nd period, and it sound like Lindenwood had the edge in play until they just took a penalty.

Still 1-0 Bemidji over Minnesota State after two.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Lindenwood has scored on the Badgers.

Psh. OVERRATEDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Gopher fans would be up in arms over another defensive lapse if that was us. Puck was sitting between Courtney Burke's (I think) skates and Rachel Weich pushed it and it flew over ARD's shoulder from no angle. But Wisconsin had a lot of chances behind the goal line to get control of the puck before the score.

Quite a 1st period at BC. 1-1 after 1.

BC has Skarupa and Carpenter back together and BC and NU are matching up lines like crazy. Making for some intense stretches of hockey.

UMD vs UND scoreless after one.

Nice video update on Lisa Marvin and her progress one year later...First class production from UND as usual.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

BC wins 4-2, quite a battle. Big win over the best team we'll play until the Frozen Four... (sigh)

Really though, nice grind-it-out win.

Wow! Busy second half of the 2nd period.

Stalder on a short handed breakaway 9 seconds into the UND PP.

Then Menke from a scrum in front of Rooney just as that PP expired and then Menke again 20 seconds later at full strength on a 2 on 1.

Then Cava a few minutes later being the final recipient of a gorgeous tic tac toe play standing all alone at the side of the crease.

UMD 2 - UND 2 after two.

SOG 19 - 14 UND

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Cava in front on a feed from the corner on the PP with a nice wrist shot 3 hole.

Menke repaying the earlier compliment for UND with a shorthanded goal on a breakaway logging a hat trick in the process and then Kohler a minute later with the eventual winner that slipped under Rooney's arm.

Good entertaining game.

UMD 3 - UND 4 Final.

SOG 24-21 UND

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Probably the most interesting games of the night were in the ECAC. Two ranked favorites lost tonight and creates an interesting "playoff" scenario for tomorrow.

The two upsets were #4 Clarkson losing 3-0 to #8 QU, while #10 Princeton lost 3-2 to unranked St Lawrence. Tomorrow, the two losing teams face off and the two winning teams meet.

The "losing bracket" will be a barn burner. Both Clarkson and Princeton need this game because whoever loses will fall precipitously down the rankings - a fate both teams will work hard to avoid. I'll be keeping an eye on that one.

The winners get to face-off tomorrow in this mini-tournament. If QU prevails, they will jet up the rankings (top 5ish). If SLU wins, that will be the spark they need to get back in contention. Another interesting one to watch.

Northeastern is for real... that's what we learned tonight. I think BC should be a bit nervous about playing them again next week, and potentially in the Beanpot.

Cava was very very good against BC. Smart and aggressive. If UMD work out how to use her they'll be dangerous.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

I just don't agree. When did we start to believe that 3-1 is anything less than a good victory no matter the presumed status of the teams going into the game.
You are right. In the posters' ranking thread I try not to penalize a team for any win. My comment was solely based on what I would have expected: a larger margin of victory for the No. 6 Beavers over the unranked Mavs, who have now lost 11 games in a row.

All that matters in the Pairwise is Ws and Ls and not the margin of victory. On that premise, the Beavers are taking care of business against teams not named Wisconsin and Minnesota.
