2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

5-0 Gophs over Beavers in the second. And this is supposed to be the #5 team in the country?

Well, Bemidji is the #2 ranked team in the NCAA's second flight, and the gap between the first-flight teams and the second tier is around 4-5 goals, so nothing unexpected happened here.

Final: Harvard 2, RPI 1, in a great, closely fought game. RPI outshot the Crimson 33-27.

Not true. The shot totals were not accurate. RPI was given SOG that were not actually shots. And the game was far from great.

The #1 team (ignore the polls until a meaningful number of meaningful games have been played) had a tough slog against them for long stretches so yes, this is 4/5 in the nation. There is a drop off between M & W and the rest of the nation but BSU is not a bad team, if they could score some points they would be deadly

I'll disagree that it's just Minnesota and Wisconsin that have separated themselves; BC is up there, too. After that, you have your choice between teams like Bemidji that seem to have a ceiling that leaves them incapable of beating the top teams unless those teams have a bad night, and teams like Clarkson and North Dakota that have a higher ceiling, but also have a tendency to completely take a night off and lose to or tie teams that they have no business losing to. Maybe Northeastern will be the team to bridge that gap; we'll get to see how they do against BC next week. Maybe Harvard will put it together. But right now, there just isn't a team that has really put itself forward to really claim #4.

It would be interesting to see T3's team play BSU. They have speed and skill but they have faced nobody that plays like the Beavers. They couldn't beat Harvard when it mattered last year, it would have been educational to have them play Wisconsin, I don't think they would have enjoyed the experience.

Wow! So disturbed that your team came close to losing that you feel it important to dispute the shots on goal! This was an exciting game and lets acknowledge the skill of both teams and celebrate the enjoyment of watching them. The ECAC is going to be very interesting this year and if that disturbs your sense of the natural order of things then you have lost all perspective. Harvard has a great team and at the end of the year they will be right up there.

Seriously, Desbiens more like SIEVEBIENS because she's a SIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contemplating the whole Wisconsin thing this morning, this fact comes to mind. A Hockey East team scored 2 goals on Wisconsin in 2 games. WCHA teams took 10 games to score 2 goals on Wisconsin. Crazy.

It's just further evidence that Hockey East is 5x better than the WCHA. We already knew that though.

That's why I was relieved to see UMD score this weekend. Had UW blanked them both games, then gave up goals to Lindenwood or Dartmouth (the next opponents), everyone would have devalued the WCHA to the point that UW would have been the only WCHA team into the ncaa's as the 8th seed. ;)

BU skates to a 3-2 victory over Maine. While I don't think we'll see BU inside the top 10 again this year should they get any goaltending help they could do some damage at tourney time.

I don't know -- the teams at the bottom of the top 10 usually have flaws of their own, so it is definitely within range for the Terriers.

Although I agree goaltending hasn't been a strong point for BU so far this season, I think the bigger issue has been the performance of the 1st line (or lack thereof). Lefort-Bach-Tutino on paper should be BU's most potent line with Lefort and Bach racking up 23 and 20 goals respectively last year. I'm sure many of those goals last year were assisted by Poulin but nonetheless, I would still expect the duo to have more than 4 goals each through 1/3 of the season. Not going to have success with those numbers. Lefort actually only had 1 goal prior to this weekend - hopefully she starts getting her groove back. If the 1st line can start to gel and goaltending gets more consistent, I think BU can definitely make a push.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Huber has put Bemidji up 1-0 'bout half way through the 1st. Anything but an impressive sweep for BSU would be Bad News Beavers.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Women's Hockey Scores & Results

Wisconsin got a total gift from Lindenwood 1:20 in, and then Hensley made 27 saves in the period. 1-0 Wisconsin after 1.
