Re: 2014 Four Nations Cup
And why did the coach keep putting her out there?
Number 7 for the US...oy vey.

Officiating was very poor. I counted four very obvious 3rd period infractions on Canada that were not called, then when Knight got physical of course they call her. Oh well....
Lacasse is surely no Szabados.
A ridiculously quick whistle also negated a Canada goal...
I was not impressed with her play at all. Really nervous. Seemed out of position most of the time--way over on her left side of the net much of the time, and lots of big juicy rebounds to keep her D on their toes.
I had high expectations of her, but not even Labonte (who I had issues with rebound controls last year) would leave a big gaping HOLE on her right side like that. You can be sure US will go after this weakness in Saturday's final. I appreciate Szabados soo much more after today.
After watching yesterday's game vs Sweden I also think Canada needs to groom another natural goal-scorer/finisher ala Meghan Agosta.
The timing of the whistles and the actual video was off all night. You could hear the whistle blow before either goalie had it covered, and on icing before the defensive player would reach the faceoff dot. Clearly the audio and video were not in sync.
Maybe on FastHockey it was, but the televised TSN coverage had audio and visual in perfect sync. And it clearly shows the puck from Wakefield's goal going in when the official prematurely blew her whistle. Embarrassing.
Agreed officiating was poor. A ridiculously quick whistle also negated a Canada goal--so it goes both ways. And the Knight penalty clearly WAS a penalty.
Surprising Lamoureux kept getting heavy ice despite struggling all night. Commentators were talking about that and that Canada needed to exploit the defensive weakness on that side....not to mention the late penalty
The women's international game always uses female officials, and no matter what level of women's hockey they are currently officiating, once they do a Canada vs. US game, it is faster than what they are used to working. The tournament ends before they adjust to that speed. Although you are right; many of the officials seem so overmatched that I'm not sure how they were selected in the first place. I guess the bottom line is that the players are improving faster than the officiating, at least to my biased eyes. The goal wave-off was embarrassing but isn't this status-quo for officiating in women's hockey? I've just come to expect it to be bad.
Based on what I saw last year in Lake Placid, my guess is that the host nation selects the officials.many of the officials seem so overmatched that I'm not sure how they were selected in the first place.

And now 42 shots at two goals!
BC is like 2nd or 3rd in the country in shot percentageA BC like 22 shots and 1 goal...
