Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Ok thanks, I had thought it was matching roughing minors. As Eeyore explained there was the scrum that followed and no way that should have been been a even-up penalty situation.
I should clarify my previous statement because it's a bit misleading. It might as well have been matching roughing calls, because the ref's actions were the same. While the call against McKinnon was announced/recorded as "unsportsmanlike conduct", it wasn't going to be called until Garzone knocked McKinnon to the ice. The official wasn't going to give the Gophers a power play based on McKinnon's shot after the whistle alone, and he wasn't going to give Ohio State a power play based on Garzone's action. So he took both of them -- which, I agree, was complete B.S.

And then he ignored or just flat out missed anything that occurred in the scrum after that.

Apologies for any confusion my previous post may have caused. Mea culpa. :o

QU over Dartmouth 3-1, Finally back in the win column. We should have stayed there last night. QU outplayed Harvard just could not get it done.

Kohler scores shorthanded for UND to tie UMD 1-1 5:30 into the 2nd period.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Hickel ties it, 2-2 midway through the 3rd.

That ended up being the final. 2-2 OT tie. UND wins shootout 2-1 on goals by Kohler and Dalen; Hickel with the UMD shootout goal.

UND now within 3 points of UMD for 3rd in the WCHA.

UND now within 3 points of UMD for 3rd in the WCHA.

That would be 4 points.

That extra point might end up being important a month from now...sort of like how an unimpressive field goal at the beginning of a football game often looms large near the end.

How do you figure?...and if you have to feel free to remove your shoes

If it helps, UMD has 41 and North Dakota has 38 points.

They do now but before I posted last night USCHO had UMD with 41 and UND with 37. UMD had previously had 40 so I knew that 41 was accurate. Wasn't sure about UND's previous point count so I even waited a while and checked back a couple times and the 37 was still there. It seemed logical that they would be both changed at the same time but even so, after the precautionary wait I posted.

Anyone know the exact process involved? Does it start with electronic input by the timekeeper or is that assuming too much technical credit for the actual process?

No idea. I always use collegehockeystats for standings, and those get updated as soon as the box score for the game is posted. Maybe USCHO has some sort of background daemon that comes along and awards shootout points.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

I was going through Box scores and noticed that the 2nd Star of a game was given to someone who scored a goal. But she was -3 in a loss. Who picks the 3 Stars?

Usually it is the home SID with input from others, and who those others are varies from place to place. I would say that someone who watched the game is in a better position to know whether or not a given player was responsible for being -3 or not, and people for the home team who almost never score or earn stars are more likely to get them when they do play well and score.

Also why doesn't USCHO show penalties in their box scores? One other reason to look to collegehockeystats.

Huskies score first in Mankato about half way through the first. 1-0 St. Cloud.

Mavericks just had a goal seconds later waved off.

Schammel makes one count seconds after the goal waved off. 1-1 now.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Schammel sent in on a clean break and a very nice move to the backhand fooling friend convincingly for a 2-1 Maverick lead.
