2013-2014 Schedules

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

Earlier this year someone (a Platty fan) posted this data…
2003-2013 - # of Games Played by SUNYAC teams vs ECAC-W (W-L-T)
Oswego – 55 (35-15-5), Geneseo – 54 (27-24-3), Brockport - 47 (12-31-4), Fredonia - 46 (15-25-6), Cortland - 46 (18-33-5), Buff State - 45 (15-29-4), Potsdam -44 (5-35-4), Morrisville 29 (4-24-1), Plattsburgh – 15 (7-5-3).

ECAC-W games vs the SUNYAC represent about 60% of their OC games. As you see above, the ECAC-W has played Oswego and Geneseo the most times (it is also worth noting that 11 of Geneseo’s 27 wins came against Lebanon Valley). With the exception of Plattsburgh, the ECAC-W has played all the other teams in the SUNYAC about the same number of times (Morrisville obviously hasn’t been around as long or I’m sure they’d have the same #s).

The next most-common foe for the ECAC-W is the ECAC-NE...which account for about 20% of their OC games. I totally get that this is a weak league…no argument to be had there. BUT - of the 70 games they’ve played over the past 6 seasons, 41 (or 60%) have been against Curry, Nichols and Wentworth. Most would consider these the best three teams in the league… they won 5 of the 6 league titles over this period.

I'm not saying anything about SOS metrics - I get your point on that. But take a look at the numbers above. I’m not so sure that your repeated statement of “75%” of ECAC-W games come against the “worst” teams in the SUNYAC and “crappy” (or “bottom half”) teams from other leagues is true.

Llama, I for one appreciate the fact that you employ logic in your posts... But you're barking-up the wrong tree if you're attempting to edify certain people here via any reasonable argument.

Utica (or Hobart) could have gone 30-0 last season, and some dummies here would have still wanted the championship vacated because one or the other hosted Salve Regina at some point.

I thought you were only allowed to post in the Utica thread?

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

Sticks, I'll be happy to help you with something:

Dropping-in to another team's thread simply to instigate is, by definition, "trolling"... Posting on a community-thread (however inanely) is not.

You're welcome.

I didn't ask you for help, nor do I need help with the definition of trolling.

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

Why don't we be nicer to each other? That's why we lose a lot of posters here, due to the lack of civility.

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

That you're a moron...

Well, that wasn't very nice, was it?

And without any particular attempt to be insulting, I'd be happy to face you at your venue of choice in any sort of an IQ contest... It would be like taking candy from a (drunken) baby.

All that aside, just go ahead and tell anyone who cares to read your drivel as to who on D-3 Earth played a tougher schedule than UC last season... We're still waiting for that one. You have never addressed that point, and I expect that you won't yet again.

Thing is, you don't really have a point to make, do you? You're likely up to your knees in Budweiser cans tonight, with Kraft mac and cheese all down your Dale Jr. sweater, sleeping-off your latest NASCAR weekend... But God bless your little heart, anyway.

PS: Regards, BTW! I would prefer that we'd be nicer to each other, but your dubious posts keep me interested in hockey even in early August. My thanks to you for that much.

I agree people could be a little nicer in here, but IMO I would have to say UW - Eau Claire played a tougher schedule. SNC played a tougher schedule. Quite a few teams in the West played as tough a schedule, but it's like everything else D3, you only really get to see the teams around you and that creates a lot of blind pride for (insert any team any of us cheer for here). SOS along with all of the other metrics used to try to create some kind of ranking / order are not and never will be accurate and hat's the only thing in D3 that is accurate in IMO.

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

This whole argument is stupid. They are basically arguing where is the water wetter: the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific? There is no definitive answer no matter what names they call each other. As I tell my teenage daughter all the time, making your argument louder doesn't make you any more right....

But that being said, it certainly is entertaining to read and keeps us thinking about DIII hockey during these long summer months! Beyond this discussion, we've had the Aurora announcement, Moffat leaving Plattsburgh, St. Anselm considering a potential future move to AHA, and some conference restructuring in the West Region. While that's certainly not a total lack of discussion topics, this "debate" has certainly filled the gaps the other topics have left! :D

I think its more fun watching Fish bounce back and forth between what he/she deems factual one day and a farce the next. While he/she seems to think being a walking Webster dictionary makes him/her appear smart, his/her lack of comprehension makes him/her just simply laughable. Fish is that type that if you showed Fish a Ford truck, let Fish drive the Ford truck, let Fish inspect the Ford truck, show Fish the title which says Ford truck, but because Fish is a Dodge fan it must be a Dodge. Fish, much like Utica, doesn’t get out much and see DIII hockey, therefore Utica and the ECAC W IS the only show in DIII. The Fish who thinks he/she knows so much actually knows so little, which makes the game so much more fun.

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

Yeah, but the Pacific plays in a much tougher league... with El Nino, they play the toughest schedule on the planet...

The Indian Ocean is much wetter than either of the other two. The water circulates more and it circulates among the wet water that is there :D

No, comparing a sos when all you can list is El Nino is ridiculous. My money is on the Artic. Their schedule include Freezing Water, Polar Ice Cap, Wandering Icerbergs, and the ever dangerous Go you Polar Bears!! Anyone can see the Artic has a MUCH tougher schedule, particularly over the Pacific!! (and really, isn't Pacific the wimpiest name ever??)!

Re: 2013-2014 Schedules

The Indian Ocean's got issues of their own with the NCAA, being "Hostile and Abusive" and all...

Thanks to global warming, the Artic Ocean has gotten soft over the years. The inclusion of falling ice into the ocean makes it less wet, doesn't it?

True, it is softer than it was, but still has substantial solid ice over the winter months (when everyone is watching). And the evidence that the Artic doesn't travel well is just hogwash. It does send frozen emissaries out, but no one seems to offer a return trip.......

BUT it is summer, so there is a pollllllllllllllllllllll.....
