2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Regardless of shots, any time one team pots that many goals over the other it is a blowout.

A harsh view. Sometimes things just don't go your way (example Richter the other day), sometimes everything you touch goes in (example Hertl the other day).

In each case the team getting "blown out" came back the next day to win the second half of the weekend double header.

All well and good, but a blow out is a blowout no matter how much spin is put on it.

Mercyhurst 2 (ENG) Clarkson 0

Just a great game played by the Lakers. Came out in period 1 and totally outplayed Clarkson with a 16-4 shot advantage and a huge time of possession advantage. Got a great PP goal. In the 2nd Clarkson started to play better but then Rattray, Clarksons best forward, got a 5 min major for an elbow to the head and Clarkson really did not threaten that much the rest of the game. Makela in the nets for Mercyhurst was excellent and deserved the shut out but a big huge thanks to her forwards and defensemen for blocking a number of Clarkson shots. The better team won game 1.

Wow BC and now this - crazy year ahead!

Wow indeed. Did not see that one coming. So number 2 and 3 fell from the unbeaten ranks this week...could number one be next ?.....For what it is worth, I voted for the UMD option in the "who ends the streak" poll, so if that proves to be right, then number one is indeed next.

One thing is for sure. This is a huge win for Mercyhurst. Puts them right back in the hunt for a top 8 placing.

Sometimes the final score does not tell the whole story. Looking at the Box scores of the RIT-UVM (6-0) and MC-Prov (5-0) games suggests the games might have been closer than the final score indicates. In both games the shots were fairly even at 30 plus for each team.

Hmm. Might be, l o o k s- Mercyhurst is better than their 3-3 record might indicate, onMAA. Big win over probably too cocky Clarkson. Way ... big. Make Clarkson beatable now. Nights ... longer? Sign of team, 'not quite' ... Why do, why do, why do ... it please me?

North Dakota jumps to a 3-0 lead over Ohio State, still in the 1st period.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Gophers' Meghan Lorence scores just 9 seconds into the 3rd period to go up 2-0. One of the referee's got seriously injured going into the boards on the play and it's doubtful he will return.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Dani Cameranesi scores her first goal as a Gopher to make it 3-0. About 9 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Edit: Some confusion on who scored the goal - may have been Rachel Ramsey if Cameranesi didn't get her stick on it on the tip.

Now 4-0 on a goal by Rachael Bona with about 6 minutes left. Looks like game over and the streak continues...for now.
