2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

That one ended in a 0-0 tie. Shots were 39-19 QU. Combined power plays were 0-for-11.
They did have a meaningless shootout that went extra rounds before Amanda Colin won it for Q.

5-1 Whioux over L'wood now

Looks like a 3-0 final Badgers over Mavericks

I don't mean to be a total "oversensitive" b-word here, but I don't see too many others using immature, petty names.

I think the point is they don't have a name. ;)

Also -- you're new here aren't you... Keep up with the BC thread come BC/BU time if you want to see some immature petty namecalling.

Well that particular immature, petty name has been used rather extensively. You must have missed that. Also, immature and petty names are fairly commonly used for a number of teams. I didn't come up with the name but have used it because others were and identifying TTFKATFS by it.

How about No Dak? I do like to minimize key strokes often as I can.

Hope I don't get into trouble for calling Bemidji The Beavers.

I, on the other hand, will cop to deliberately engaging in immature mocking when I call them the Whioux.

Yeah...you would ya big stinky butt!

Okay.....and now lets get back to hockey. A big night for ECAC. Union pummels Providence, RPI demolishes RMU, Colgate hangs tough against Minnesota, and Quinnipiac ....well that was a disappointing tie against St. Cloud, but overall a great start for the conference.

Here's the problem. NCAA is a bunch of bullies. We get that. So you can't use your name. That's rough. We're with you so far.

But now you're just going to be ... "University of North Dakota". Sorry, but that's kind of boring. A school should have a sense of humor, like Stanford. Pick a color for a nickname, and pair it with a tree for a mascot. Classic. They get it; this is all supposed to be fun.

So I wouldn't use any b-word, unless it is boring, but I might think you are venturing into whine country. If you opt not to pick a nickname, then you leave the field open for others to pick one for you, and spell it as they choose.

As for others using immature names, I wish I had $5 for every time I've read "Goophers", "Goofers", "Goophs", or "Goofs" on here over the years. Either you can see the humor in "Whioux" or you can't. Your choice.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

i.e., "Jan Brady State" referring to SCSU. Mostly from Goopher, . . .er, Gopher fans . . .:)

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

After one it's Minnesota 4, Colgate 2. Picture is jerky and (faint) sound came on very late in the period.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Gophers up 6-2 after two. Once again they had to kill off an extended two man disadvantage.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Final: Gophers 8, Colgate 3

Bona and Menefee with two goals each. McMillen and Ramsey each with one in the 3rd.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

I'll add a few more scores involving WCHA teams...

FINAL - Wisconsin 5, Minnesota State 1 - Brittany Ammerman recorded two goals and an assist.

FINAL - Quinnipiac 3, St. Cloud State 1 - The Huskies led 1-0 with 7 1/2 minutes remaining in regulation, but the Bobcats stormed back, getting the game-winning goal and an insurance tally from Emma Woods. Nicole Connery scored the first QU goal and assisted on both of Woods' goals.

5:06 REMAINING, 2ND PERIOD - Ohio State 2, Mercyhurst 0 - The Buckeyes lead on a pair of second-period goals by Kari Schmitt.

10:15 REMAINING, 2ND PERIOD - Minnesota-Duluth 3, Connecticut 1 - Jamie Kenyon has a pair of power-play goals for the Bulldogs.

And North Dakota and Lindenwood are just getting underway.

FINAL - Ohio State 4, Mercyhurst 3, OT - The Buckeyes couldn't hold 2-0 and 3-2 leads as Mercyhurst tied the game twice, but Taylor Kuehl's goal at the 2:02 mark of overtime gave Ohio State the victory in Erie.

FINAL - Minnesota-Duluth 5, Connecticut 1 - Ashleigh Brykaliuk added a goal and an assist as the Bulldogs outshot the Huskies 51-16.

8:32 REMAINING, 2ND PERIOD - North Dakota 4, Lindenwood 1 - Susanna Tapani and Johanna Fallman each have a goal and an assist, and UND holds a 32-6 shot advantage.

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Brittany is only the second Ammerman, behind older sister Brooke. She got a medical redshirt after playing in only 3 games last season, and is listed as a junior on the official UW roster.
My point mostly being that it felt like Brooke played for like 7 years, and now there's another one

8:32 REMAINING, 2ND PERIOD - North Dakota 4, Lindenwood 1 - Susanna Tapani and Johanna Fallman each have a goal and an assist, and UND holds a 32-6 shot advantage.
FINAL - North Dakota 6, Lindenwood 1 - The score could have been much more lopsided as shots on goal were 75-9, but Lions goaltender Nicole Hensley made 69 saves. For UND, Susanna Tapani scored a goal and added 2 assists.

On a side note: I'm not trying to make this another WCHA thread, but I don't feel comfortable posting results from games outside the WCHA. Someone - anyone - is welcome to add to this thread on behalf of the other conferences.
