2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Sometimes things may be so obvious we overlook them completely....:o

For some reason, I had thought that the "swing" voters we hear about are on the fence, deciding whether to vote for one candidate or the other. I overheard someone saying that the real "swing" voters are those who are debating whether not to vote at all or whether to vote for Romney, and it is in this group that Romney is making his inroads.

Then I realized, "that's me." Obama's policy choices in just about any area you can mention have not worked as promised nor intended. That didn't mean I'd favor Romney, it merely meant I wouldn't vote for Obama.

At the outset of the Republican primaries, I thought Romney might make a decent candidate. We lived in WY in the run-up to the 2000 Salt Lake City Olympics, and the impending disaster in the making dominated the news. Romney's rescue there was quite extraordinary. I knew as MA Governer, he started with a $3 billion budget deficit and when he left office, there was a $2 billion rainy day fund on hand for his successor. I knew about Staples.

Yet during the campaign, none of this came out. He was so out of touch with his strengths, and so clearly trying to win over the hard-core conservatives, that I lost any interest in voting for him that I may have had. I figured "none of the above" was the most responsible choice.

Suddeenly the apolitical super-competent technocrat appeared out of nowhere at the first debate, and built further upon that foundation last night. I went from "neither" to Romney and it sounds like quite a few other people are moving that way as well.

I think it is funny when you spin things to talk yourself into believing them. I think it is hilarious you think anyone will agree with you when you post it here :D We all knew who you were voting for months ago ;)

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Fishy = Joe the Plumber! A guy who's vote is supposed to be up for grabs because he's nonpartisan but then mysteriously ends up agreeing with the GOP candidate on every issue. ;)

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

That was good. The best though was when Romney did a tally of a bunch of all the promises Obama made in 2008 and never kept. Powerful stuff. Overall, not a clear winner either way. Much better performance by Obama though. He actually seemed like he wanted to get reelected this time.

Sure. And when Romney gets elected every single day I'm going to remind everyone of the promises he made during this campaign.

Like I said, I don't need to watch mainstream media; I can get it right here. :D

Just out of curiosity... how many times was the phrase "Bush Lied, Kids Died" used?

Don't worry, your media will do that for you, unlike the free pass they've given Obama.

First on my list is my 20% tax cut with NO increases in my taxes. That's what he promised. That means that I'm getting 20% without having any of my loopholes removed.

You believed all the stuff Obama promised you, and apparently still do, so why not believe everything Romney tells you also?

I didn't believe a word he said. I didn't vote for him.

Next, I'm going to hold Romney to pumping 2 trillion into the war machine, AND becoming energy independent. And, as he explained last night, when we become energy independent ALL my energy bills are going down. That means cheap heat, cheap gas, cheap electricity, etc. etc. etc.

I can hardly wait.

Right, and you think things through carefully and then reflexively defend BHO no matter what! ;)

You didn't vote for him and never believed him, but you're one of his biggest defenders around here, going nuts anytime someone questions him in any way. Yah, right.

When people lie about what has happened I call it out, yes. Not really defending Obama. In fact I posted a list of things I disagree with Obama on for Old Pio about a week ago. I guess you must have missed it.

I just can't wait to get all my free **** from Romney. It's going to be like Christmas.

Not really defend Obama. Is this an alternate universe or something? Or is this the doppelganger Scooby or something?

So, under this new paradigm you claim, you must have loved when Romney called out Obama on the litany of things he promised to do in 2008 and never did?

Sure. Absolutely. Although given without context its meaningless. Do you really think Romney's going to accomplish anything he's promising? I've spent the last few posts pointing out how ridiculous it is. So, my glee has to be tempered because the guy calling it out is a liar of the highest magnitude. Or, did you miss that part? You the budget hawk buying the 8 trillion dollar spending plan? C'mon, Bob. Wake up.

Why is Mitt Romney's Tax Plan questions tailor made for Obama????

Please explain.

Remember, Flag isn't voting for either candidate either...

Funny about how in disarray the knuckledragger caucus is in trying to spin this. After Biden cleaned Ryan's clock, the cavemen pundits on the right all hit the same talking point about Biden being rude to the wuss because they saw the writing on the wall - Ryan couldn't defend any of his and Mittens' policies. Didn't work as that debate clearly halted any Mittwit momentum in its tracks and put the race on hold until yesterday. Now you've got geezer trying to argue Romney's humiliation on the Libya question was actually a win, Flagg yapping about biased moderators and Fishy making up stories about energy production. Get it together people, will ya? :)

Do I look like I write for the Washington Times? ;) I didn't hear that question since I tuned into Youtube about a half hour or so into the debate. I did hear the question about Bush's third term, though. I could just TELL that was staged.

So a moderator is now supposed to be answering questions instead of just asking them?

Of course both candidates promise a bunch of stuff they won't/can't do. True of both candidates, though Obama has a 4-year record of not keeping promises, something Romney doesn't have, yet. That's nothing new, though it seems to get worse every go around. I remember saying in 2008 that one problem McCain had was that he was promising some stuff, but not nearly as much as Obama, and the voting public wants to be promised all sorts of goodies.

I just have found you very sympathetic to Obama every step of the way in recent years. If you're waking up out of that stupor finally, kudos to you!
