2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

I have an aversion to the policies of a previous administration that caused a train wreck littering the entire nation with wreckage debris. But I do believe some politicians are stupid. Stupidity...often partnered with nefarious, self serving intent and motivation guided by ruling class protectionist objectives. I can't see my way to casting a vote for his would be Emperorness or his Heycheckoutmypipesduudeminioness.

Proof that a true democracy has its shortcomings

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

If you're looking for a thread of consistency in the Romney campaign, it's his willingness to lie and mislead to reach his goal. From the much debunked "apology tour" to his first TV ad with Obama's quoting of McCain taken out of context (and when the critics pointed it out, he refused to pull the ad), and more recently with more falsehoods about welfare rules and Medicare savings. And now the latest. A false claim that Jeep wil move all manufacturing to China. Chrysler had to issue a statement setting things straight.

Machiavellian Mitt just can't help himself.

You probably posted that drivel with a straight face, especially with Benghazi, right?

I see, so Benghazi--whatever the facts ultimately show--means you can shake the Etch-A-Sketch and Romney's years of pants-on-fire lies goes away? The specific ones noted--and many others--are only "drivel" in the right-wing, say-anything-about Obama, hate-monger dominated, alternate reality that Romney operates in in order to prove he's "severely conservative. In the world of reality, Romney's serial lies--repeatedly debunked--are part of an intentional strategy of throwing everything and anything against the wall repeatedly. In the latest example, Chrysler had to issue a statement lest it be stained by Romney's lie about Jeep manufacturing.

And speaking of Benghazi, let's not forget the first and most despicable lie about those events, Romney's blatantly false claim that the administration was sympathizing with terrorists. http://www.factcheck.org/2012/09/romney-gets-it-backward/

You really need to get more fired up about this stuff!

Fivethirtyeight.com continues to show Obama pulling away, now a 75% lock with a 50 EV lead. After eliminating the bounces, "In fact, our projected leader in all 50 states is the same as it was at our launch of the forecast in June."
Admittedly Obama cheerleaders, but still - they're not hedging their bets at all.

Interesting considering this breakdown of predicted turnout from other polling sources. One way or the other some pollsters are going to have egg on their faces at the end of this.

Heard on Dennis Miller coming back from lunch that a jobs report will not be released. They say it's because of Sandy, but I call BS, and know it's really because they'll spoil the election for the messiah dictator.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

*ahem* I said Nate Silver is a simple-minded partisan hack.
Kepler?
*AHEM* There's also a hurricane about to hit NYC.
Priceless?

...this place is boring.

That's an interesting twist to things, if it is in fact the case.

Right. Obama called in the Hurricane and there it was.

Nobody died because of Romney's "lies." Not only did four Americans die in Benghazi, there is accumulating evidence that His Liarness could have provided assistance, but didn't. And knew who was responsible for the attack, but lied about it for days. This is obviously of no consequence to Kool Aid drinkers, but so called "persuadable" voters might not be so forgiving of gross incompetence and mendacity. And that's what's got you worried, isn't it Bunky?

Yeah, a 3:1 Obama likelihood by Silver is quite a stake in the ground. I wouldn't have the guts to throw it out there. Intrade still has this at a 3:2 likelihood for Obama. Although this may be Silver's swan song, he does have a heckava track record (from wiki):

The accuracy of his November 2008 presidential election predictions—he correctly predicted the winner of 49 of the 50 states—won Silver further attention and commendation. The only state he missed was Indiana, which went for Barack Obama by 1%. He also correctly predicted the winner of all 35 Senate races that year.

I love any right wing loop-d-loop blogger who ends a 'treason' article with: I would be pleased to withdraw it if proven wrong.

Of course, he has zero shot of proving that he's right on even one of his conclusions.

Love your arguments when it comes to honorable service and who died because of someone's lies.

Of course you conveniently forget about the lies, half-truths (same as a lie) and exaggerations (same as a lie) that got is into Iraq.

You also have no problem with the the lies, half-truths (same as a lie) and exaggerations (same as a lie) that allowed voter suppression laws to pass. It's just voting, right? Nobody died over voting, right? Well at least not since the 50s and 60s.

So as long as Romney's (or any other of your GOP boys') lies don't get anyone killed, all is well? Is that the line? Just want to make sure I know at what point I should be outraged.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election Part 4

Well, this is a bit of a surprise, as the Des Moines Register has endorsed a Democrat for President from 1976 through 2008 inclusive.

Des Moines Register
endorses Romney:

The former governor and business executive has a strong record of achievement in both the private and the public sectors. He was an accomplished governor in a liberal state. He founded and ran a successful business that turned around failing companies. He successfully managed the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Romney has made rebuilding the economy his No. 1 campaign priority — and rightly so
