Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

According to Fox, and judging by my Facebook, I'm the only person in the country who isn't emotionally invested in the outcome. I just don't give a rat's one way or the other about 4 more years of national clinical depression. At best, Obama will be slightly more moderate than Romney would have been deficit-wise. At worse, the supreme court gets tilted to a more militant liberal activism for the next 20 years. But in the big picture, I don't see a dime's worth of difference. It's just a continuation of the national failure. blah.

Actually getting the Reps to give up on social issues, and actually be tolerable would be the best thing for the country. Nail up the lib judges and move on.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Ummmm.....if the O wins Colorado (and its been called by the AP) why is Mittens dragging his heels on conceeding? That would render OH, VA, & FL moot, right?

Yep. Obama's at 272 without any of those three states. And the NY Times just called Va for Obama, too.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

I've got Obama at 290. Don't know what Romney thinks he's waiting on now.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Election is decided, but losing VA and FLA is going to be horrific for the Republican party. Its really unlikely a Democrat will ever be running in this economic environment for a long time. If you can't even hold your base, the South, you're screwed. Virginia and Florida cannot become a permanent part of the Dem coalition of states or its electoral doom for the knucks'. Forget about Iowa, Colorado or Nevada.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

I would like to point out that the election is being called and my state hasn't even closed all of its polls yet.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Obama takes the lead in the popular vote as more votes from Washington, Oregon, and California are counted.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

The networks just called Va. for Obama as well.

If Florida stays blue, Nate Silver went 50/50.

But I heard Nate Silver doesnt know jack and even might be a "dingus" ;)

:D

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Fox reporting Romney made the call and will give his concession speech at about 1230.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Nate Silver went 50/50.
So it turns out math is real? :p Give that boy a raise.

I'm curious, thinking about 2016, who will run against Rubio? Do we know yet? Surely not Crazy Uncle Joe. Or Shrillary.

And if Romney wins Florida, then Nate Silver's projection on June 7 was 50/50.

Projecting the election on the Sunday before is one thing, but going 49/50 or 50/50 five months before election day is actually quite impressive.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Charles Krauthammer...I want to be this guy. He is wrong about almost everything and somehow gets paid a lot of money to do it! I mean Scooby does that every day and I doubt he is rich ;)

The GOP is screwed because it is filled with idiotic yes men like him.

Hey where is Karl Rove to mea culpa? ;)

He made this same point a number of times on his blog. People/mass media got all worked up about the polling swings especially after the debate, when all along the race was gravitating to end up exactly the same place as it started. (they should have cancelled the whole thing last year and saved the $6 Bil) The maths never got rattled or tried to sensationalize mood swings.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Good speech by Romney.

Should have never went so far right. Probably wins if the GOP primary process wasn't such a cesspool - forcing him to the right.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

And for the cherry on top:

Puerto Rico is looking like they're going to vote yes on becoming a state.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Hey Mitt: See that landslide in the electoral college? You built that!
