Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

You can't alienate big parts of the electorate and expect to win.

There are so many young women who get health care from planned parenthood, not just abortion counseling. There are so many working latino's who need education help. Saying you'd get rid of planned parenthood or people should self deport, is going no where. Just go walk around south Philly, or east Boston. AND... the Reps need to quit with the polarization and do what's best for the country instead of just them. It makes them look really selfish and small.

The Dems need to quit with the high and mighty thinking they're right 100% of the time. If anything, they're the selfish ones.

13% black turnout-- 90% for bho
10% Hispanic turnout-- 70% for bho

It's not the Dems' fault that facts have a liberal bias.

It's tough to win a general election when you only appeal to white males and their spouses who can't/won't think for themselves.

You guys lost because of how far your ideology has lurched to the right. Look around. Is it 1950?

We're not going back and you puritans better figure that out if you want to ever win the White House again.

If you can't win with this economy and level of unemployment, when can you?

Where's grandpa OP? Sleeping off the Absinthe?

Wanna know if he enjoyed MSNBC last night.

Faux was like a funeral. Who died?

Please explain to me how I am a Puritan. I'm not entirely in the same group as the fascist knucks. Sure, I might have some personal beliefs, but that doesn't mean I'm going to push them on everyone else.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

To paraphrase Stephen Colbert - the next time a GOP candidate feels the urge to talk about rape, just pick up a fork and stab yourself in the eye. It'll have the same effect.

The rape stuff is certainly not what did it, but it was a piece of extremists alienating an awful lot of people. letting religious nuts try and control who can have birth contol covered, trying to define what is legitimate rape...purge the extremists and I think a lot of people, namely women, won't have such a hard time voting republican now and then.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Hey Mitt: See that landslide in the electoral college? You built that!

Not a landslide. It's about a 100-votes less than the average margin of victory over the last ten elections even with Florida.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

I used to feel like I was much more of a Republican. Now I don't really fit in either party.

Pro-Choice, Anti-Gun, Smaller Government, Less Military Expense (especially foreign policing/wars), Less Welfare, Protect Soc Sec and Medicare.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Romney got the same % of white voters that George H.W. Bush did in 1988. Because of demographics, it was 200 less electoral votes.

Doesn't matter what you are personally. Your party has it's priorities messed up.

Better figure out if you're tea-baggers or if you're Republicans.

My party? I've mentioned countless times that I am not a part of the Republican party. I haven't voted on the Republican ticket for a while now. Hell, I didn't even vote for RMoney!

Welcome to ignore.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Why bother. Let him continue with landslide and mandate .... And nothing happens

A mandate is a 40-seat swing in the House or a 10-seat swing in the Senate. A mandate is an incumbent president getting voted out by 250 votes in the EC. A 300-vote win for the incumbent.

Take a look at this page:
http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/results/president

Now click on the shift from 2008. That's a lot of shift to the right. Which scares me to some extent.

exactly. Slate argues that Obama is more of a "traditional moderate Republican" than a liberal.
Your country didn’t vote for a socialist tonight. It voted for the candidate of traditional Republican moderation.
