I highly doubt it's true. Even Rush has better survival instincts than to say that. But it's the sort of thing that's often thrown his way.

Why in the world is Ron Paul still being allowed to tote his line about voting against earmarks? First ****ing thing I heard upon turning on this giant derp fest. Why don't one of these trained chimps just point out that he's the one who added earmarks to benefit him knowing full well that the bills were going to pass?

Sorry for the hit-and-run, but that party is just completely off the rails, isn't it? How long did they spend discussing the legality of contraception? Wasn't that decided 50 years ago?
Huntsman and Paul are both mostly good, sometimes great, probably better than Pres. Obama, and I think they'd both be strong presidents, especially Huntsman. I can't imagine anyone else in that group being elected dog-catcher. I wouldn't want any one of them as my Condo Board President. Yet they're going to get their 47% in November, right?

The consolation is that if they get crushed again the GOP may learn. The derp is still strong, but it has no electoral future outside a handful of states.
They're boxed in. The way to their nomination is to pander to a portion of the electorate that is bitter, neurotic and afraid. But the more the candidates play up to them, the more they alienate the other 70% of the country.

To be fair, it was Stephanopolous who asked the question, and I feel like it was treated with the proper amount of disdain. It's not like Romney brought it up out of the blue - he'd love to bang on about the economy some more, I'm sure.
