Really? Then the Republican Party is ridiculous cause that's the same argument they make on abortion, gay marriage, gay rights, Handguns, etc. etc. etc.

Not the same thing. No law makes you get an abortion, enter into a gay marriage or purchase a handgun. While I happen to agree with it, the bottom line is the health care mandate makes you do something, as opposed to a law stopping you from doing something. That's what Romney signed into law in Mass.

So, you're saying there are no other laws that make you do something? Maybe if you're a hermit living in the mountains off the land. Otherwise there are tons of laws that force you to do something.

And it's clear even President Obama (Bush II clone 3rd term) believes lower taxes = job creation.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/jobs_act.pdf

Notice that is a PAYROLL tax cut which will help workers...the 98%. Not more tax cuts for the top 1% that do nothing but 1) Expand the exorbitant wealth already in the hands of ~4000 families and 2) Increase jobs in Asia while the working class here is decimated.

Has the GOP been asleep for the last decade while the "job creators" have been swimming in tax cuts while jobs left this country at an unprecedented rate? I know the politicians are bought and paid for by the corporations and those ~4000 families, but the rank and file who get nothing from those relative handful of people...what's your excuse? Pride that you don't want to admit that you were wrong? Not your fault: People you trusted lied to your face. Consider this a "Get out of jail free" card. Their lies have been exposed. You don't have to buy their horseshit anymore. I would hope that my fellow liberals will be magnanimous enough not to ridicule you if you admit that they duped you. It's happened before. Obama duped us into thinking he was a liberal...now he's just (barely) the lesser of two evils.

It's a big step to admit that you were deceived. We're here to help you.

Scoobs I need you to adjust the frequency on your tin foil helmet because I think some feedback is rattling around in your skull. I asked about the health insurance mandate. You brought up abortion, gay marriage and guns. I said the health mandate isn't the same thing because those other three examples aren't requirements to partake in those activities. Are you up to speed now?

Karim Sadjadpour with the perfect comparison for Iran:

MW: ... is the White House spokesman correct -- or do you agree with the assessment that a lot of this bluster really reflects a certain sense, if not of desperation, than of vulnerability on its part?

KS: Well, Iran has this schizophrenia because it simultaneously has delusions of grandeur and profound insecurity. You could call it the Sarah Palin of nations.

Well, when you put it that way, nuke it.

I voted for Obama and I never thought he was a "liberal" (maybe social liberal lean) . And I've been saying since as early as 2009 that he's a Bush2 clone running a 3rd term. By every action and inaction his taken since inauguration.

It's funny but OWS isn't just protesting against crony capitalism, corrupt congress (<10% popular), but also against President Obama (the sitting power in office). So when talking heads talk about garnering OWS anger for 2012 re election and embracing it... i find it hilarious.

Re: 2012 Elections Pt II: Bachmann Turned Me Into a Newt! A Newt?

I'm hoping someone can explain the "stillborn outrage" to me in a way that makes sense.
What I understand happened at some point in the past is that the Santorums had a stillborn baby in the hospital, then followed the "American Pregnancy Association" guidelines on how to deal by taking the body home to introduce to the other kids, spend some time singing to, etc. It's the way thousands of couples have been able to deal with losing a baby.
Anyway, the liberals have gone into full attack mode about how "inappropriate" and "really, really, weird" this episode was. First Alan Colmes, now Rachel Maddow and Eugene Washington are mocking the family in the liberal media about how terrible it was.
I honestly don't get it. I have family members who have gone through very similar stillborn experiences, and they seem to me should be kept personal and blame-free, even if the family is that of a politician. Is there any reasonable explanation for using it as a basis for attack politics? Is anything private to a liberal?

liberals?

I'm as liberal as anyone around here. I have no problem with what he and his family did.

Is this the late-term abortion that saved his wife's life? Do you not see his blatant hypocrisy that a late-term abortion was fine to save his own wife, but if it was your wife or daughter it should be illegal (not to mention that it's a one-way ticket to Hell) and that he campaigns rather vociferously on this issue. Mocking him and his family for what the family did is wrong; but bear in mind that if he had his way if a woman was in the same situation as his wife, she would die. That might explain a little of the outrage...

Maybe it's just a couple selected comments blown completely out of proportion by the right wing echo chamber? Because that certainly would make sense from the people who brought us "the war on Christmas" and "Obama's war on religion."

thank you. I was not at all aware it was an abortion.

While your comparison of economics to projectile physics has been intersting, I don't think you're going down the right track at all.

You might want to read a little more about the particular procedure in question as the fetus aborted was, according to some sources, suffering a fatal defect. I have not read the bill Santorum sponsored to see if it contains any exceptions for such an eventuality. If not, it is a clear case of hypocrisy on his part.

Scooby, I think your statement is incorrect as long as Priceless and Rover are still running around loose. :p

The bill Santorum wants to pass has no provision. There is no question he is hypocritical on the issue. My point was that I had no problem with what he did. I expect all the Republicans are liars on the issue when the individual circumstances warrant it.

True, I'm probably not the top dog.

Re: 2012 Elections Pt II: Bachmann Turned Me Into a Newt! A Newt?

Dems might have some hope for the House, but it's a long, long way to November.

Markos was on POTUS last night with an interesting opinion: he doesn't care about whether the Senate flips because there's no way to get to 60 anyway, and perhaps the GOP will be brazen / brave / practical enough to finally abolish the cloture rule, which in the long run (in his opinion) would benefit Dems because the Republicans use cloture to block legislation much more often since their long game is to gum up the works and weaken government. OTOH, the House can actually get things done, and there's a non-trivial likelihood that the Dems could flip it, so that's where their attention should be.

I can't see the Dems winning the House unless there was a wave of support behind an inspiring presidential candidate who ran HARD on getting a Dem Congress -- there's just no way to make big changes with the gerrymandering of districts. OTOH what he says about the self-inflicted incapacity of the Senate has merit. I would love to see both cloture and the anonymous hold eliminated, regardless of who is in the majority. At some point you have to let the body do the people's will rather than choke on a chicken bone on every law or appointment.
