2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Frankly on principle, I have no intention of changing the US Constitution to limit Americans rights as does Perry...rather than ensure Americans rights as the founders intended. But I am not a big government, social conservative...pretty much the worst combination.
Don't forget militarist. That about wraps it up for Perry as JFC, Not Again.

Maybe someone can explain one thing to me.

There seems to be a huge ANTI regulation thing going in the Repub party. I guess I get that but what's their solution to preventing the housing crisis from ever occurring again then? Don't we need some sort of framework to prevent "too big to fail"????

And claiming something is a "common tactic" is a well-worn way of pivoting from an analysis of the point being made to a charge of disingenuousness -- basically, an ad hominum attack.

In my opinion, Bachmann hasn't demonstrated a firm grasp of any idea for either of us to agree or disagree with. That is, naturally, just a opinion. Apparently she is an inspired political animal, however, given how she's been destroying TPaw specifically and the rest of the field generally tonight. Of course, an animal can be deadly without having any ability to think for itself. One thing to her absolute credit however: she hasn't played the victim card once. After this, nobody on the planet will remember Palin as anything more than a cynical grifter with a thin skin, who hid behind her gender every moment of her public life. Bachmann may be an idiot, but she actually appears to be a genuine post-feminist idiot who neither asks not gives quarter from the boys.
Claiming something is a common tactic is an ad hominum attack? Good heavens you can be paranoid. But, I guess that's easier that acknowledging that such an approach to one's opponents is common and degrades discourse, especially as at times you take such an approach.

You blew right by the point. Nice.

Class of '28 was where it's at. We had a gym downstairs! And a view of the Hot Truck!

(Also, South Baker is cool too.)

We still had numbers 1-6. IIRC, they were counter clockwise with Sperry being 6. I lived in 5 my freshman year. You guys (4) were the "classy dorm," and you also had the closest access to the Fish Bowl (the bar in Noyes Center), and the drinking age was still 18, so that was... well... it was convenient.

This is one of the most "what the... wait... what?" editorials from a politician I've ever read. For those of you not blessed with having him as your Congressman (pauses to gag), Roscoe would most charitably be described as a doctrinaire rural conservative and a "character." He would be less charitably but more accurately described as a batshit crazy knuckledragger. And yet... there it is, not just something progressive, but miles ahead of virtually every public figure, let alone every politician.

He's trying to capitalize on the new Planet of the Apes movie?

You joke, but Roscoe has a very healthy sense of smell when it comes both to publicity and lobbyist money. If this is something he genuinely believes in, and that article (whichever staffer actually wrote it) sure seems well thought out and more than the usual boilerplate BS, then I wouldn't at all be surprised by the timing. Roscoe is such an incorrigible corporate whore, however, it's also likely that there are Maryland bio-med companies pushing the sort of alternative methods he's pimping.

It's also weird because Fort Detrick is in our district, and they do all sorts of the kind of animal testing best not discussed in front of the children.

Jesus H. Christ in a handbasket...is this the next round of birtherism?

We've already seen Perry's transcript and he isn't officially a candidate. Yet for some reason "The One" has carefully guarded his. Why? Isn't he the smartest president since Jimmy Carter? So don't try any of that "birtherism" smart sh*t. You libs are forever prattling on about how stupid your opponants are. Now we know that Perry was not the world's best student in college. Okay, let's see Obama's precious and up 'til now secret document.

My guess is that while excellent, Deadmeat's grades at Columbia weren't exactly what you'd expect for someone matriculating at Harvard Law, which might raise questions about him being an affirmative action admit. Frankly it makes no difference to me one way or another. He's a complete failure as president and I look forward to sending him back to Chicago to resume his career as a "community organizeer." But it is interesting to note yet more liberal hypocricy, Perry's transcript is important, but wanting to see Deadmeat's is evidence of delusion.

You do realize that going down this road is just giving them another bullet to use in the "Republicans are stupid hicks" argument, right? It doesn't matter if you are serious or just trying to make a point, they will bring this back up for the next 2 years.

Good Lord.
Let him rant. It prevents the pressure from building up, and I'll need all the college hockey fans I can find if I ever move to AZ.

BTW, Pio, I loved Tucson. Well, I loved North Tucson, anyway. ;) Though the roller derby operates out of a divey little hole in South Tucson and that was probably the most fun I had there all week.

Also: Der Wienerschnitzel rules.

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Good Lord.

Good lord, indeed. Why should anyone, ever, expect libs to be consistent or even make sense? Huffpo thinks Perry's transcript is a vital document in chosing who our next president is. But Deadmeat's transcript(s) are of no importance whatsoever. And pointing out this glaring inconsistency brings out the wails of anguish from all the little girls hiding under the bedclothes at the prospect of Rick Perry in the WH.

As a Chicagoan, I'm not exactly a hot dog snob, but Der Wienerschnitzel isn't on my list.

If you move to AZ and treat me nice, I'll tell you about the time I had a meal with Ned Harkness.

Do you really believe he wasn't vetted? He ran against a Clinton for cripes sake.
