Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Your expendable trading pieces are almost as unimpressive as ours. Are the UFA forwards any better?

Some people have talked about paying out the arse for Brad Richards, but those people are smoking crack. We definitely don't need forwards, much less a center.

How about trading Hudler for Bogosian... ;)

If Kenny could swing lazy Hudler for a young defenseman who still has potential, it'd be great. That was just a rumor back at the deadline though, and Bogosian is still a young player. The Wings will want a veteran to replace Rafi, and while I agree that Bieska > Wiz, the rumor is that there is at least one team already prepared to offer Bieska $5 million, and Vancouver is sure to make an effort to keep him too (probably at the expense of Salo). I doubt the Wings will overpay for any UFA (trading for someone may be another story).

Nice job by the Tampa Bay "fans" tonight. Throwing things at the opposing team, so classy.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I really don't think the fans were trying to throw things at anyone. That said, throwing anything on the ice (certain exceptions apply) is dangerous and stupid...

Video link? Missed it. Did a lazy search, and found no obvious footage...

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I'm fairly certain Krejci got hit with one by the Bruins bench, but there's no way to tell where it came from...

I saw one definitely hit his "upper body" but he shrugged it off. What's with Florida teams - first rats, now clappers. Almost as bad as confetti!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Thoughts on last nights game:

5 on 5 wasn’t bad, and Boston played better on even strength. Neither goalie played well in my mind. Tampas D was fine until boston started forchecking and cycling. Not sure where Bostons effort from the last 5 minutes was in the previous 55 minutes, but if they played like that and didn’t take penalties, they would be en route to playing the canuks in a week. That said, if they can keep the penalties down ( which they will), I think they have a good chance at winning this thing. Tampas PP is too dangerous, they have too many weapons.

Keys to Fridays game will be special teams for tampa, or discipline for Boston. Boston will bring the same game carried over from the last of the third, so if they can avoid these senseless cross checking penalties, its going to be a close one. Give Tampa 2-3 useless PPs and this ones over - but I predict more discipline as coach has done a good job adjusting all playoffs when needed.

Prediction: Boston and Tampa play a close disciplined game. Not picking a winner.

It sure looked to me like they were throwing them at the Bs. It's just hard to hit a skater when you have to lob it over the glass - just ask the JBSU fans.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Don't forget about Erhoff. Bieksa and him are both FA's

If we're going to overpay for a blue-liner, I'd rather it be Bieksa than Wiz. Wiz sucked with the Blackhawks, sucked with the Ducks, and somehow sucked hard enough on the Islanders to get a trade to Montreal.

I'd rather take the CCHA'er over the local kid.

One of the worst kept secrets in hockey.

Even though for the last three years Jennerate has indicated the previous season would be his last, once again he's returning albeit a "little" reduced workload.

Rick is becoming the Brett Favre of the broadcasting world.

Wisniewski was actually quite good for the Islanders. He filled a major void with Streit sidelined, and did more than an adequate job. He put up 21 points in 32 games, ran their Power Play, and played tough. I don't want to hear about his plus/minus; which is the worst stat ever (not to mention that he was somehow a +4 with the Habs, so it's not like he suddenly became good overnight. Again, worst stat ever).

Same with Montreal in replacing Marky. He was slowed the last couple of months by a string of injuries; the most notable being the puck in the face that affected his vision. He was a warrior in the playoffs, playing through a broken hand the last three games of the Boston series. I wish Montreal could keep him, but it's either him or Markov, and that's a no brainer.

It definitely looked like that to me, too; save for the ones in the TB end of the ice. I saw a bunch when Horton was going after Thompson after the final horn, and then saw Krejci get hit multiple times as he basically waltzed around and waited by the bench.

Not very classy at all, but something we've seen multiple times in the playoffs by different fan bases....towels usually don't have the same effect, though.

The thing is... there may not even need to be a trade made...

Bogosian said he brought "a lot of his stuff" home from his place in Atlanta. Whether that was because of a potential franchise move, or because he doesn't think he will be re-signing with Atlanta, I don't know. I haven't asked him about his contract situation, and won't be, since I know there is probably a bunch of other people asking those questions and it most likely gets old quick.

I'm guessing that has more to do with the former at the moment.

Game over. Tampa will win. The Lowell Sun has an ad in today's issue for Bruins championship tshirts at JC Penney.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

But Lightning fans' feelings were hurt about the Bruins' ad campaign.

* the Lightning fans. One more reason to dislike TB.
