Nor should he have been. Tampa doesn't deserve hockey anyway.

Was there an octopus involved? Were the throwers wearing Wings jerseys? That's all Bettman cares about when it comes to fans throwing stuff. ;)

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Not sure how I feel about the game tonight...I could honestly see a 5-0 win for either team, or a 3-2 2 OT game. Boston has historically bounced back from tough defeats, and I liked the way they played in Game 6. But I'm not totally convinced they have shed their choker past...

Oh, and I'm working tomorrow night. 4PM-1AM. But, surprisingly, I should be able to watch the game. I work at an airport, and have a lengthy (re, 3 1/2 hours) break in the evening where there are no flights. I'll bring my laptop and use the free WiFi to stream it. There's a scheduled departure at 7:10, but after that's I'm good until 10:20 or so.

So, ideally, that 7 PM flight needs to be on time, and the 10:20 arrival needs to be like 30 minutes late. If that works out, I'm golden. Alternatively, Boston could just wrap up the game early on in the third, so I don't have to worry about the end (Option B is listening to 98.5 on my iPhone as I'm unloading baggage, haha).

I think Boston is the better team and can win. They should win. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if they lay an egg.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Not sure a loss tonight will put boston in the choker category. They came back down 2-0, swept the #2 team in the east, and are taking an evenly matched tampa team to game 7. Win or lose, I’d say this year has been an all around solid effort, one I think ( believe it or not) they can improve upon next year. I will say this; this team would be playing for the cup right now if their PP wasn’t 7%.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I think they'll will win if

1) They manage not to allow an opening minute goal
2) They don't allow more power play goals than they score

I'll leave the real strategery to those who've played the game at the highest level. But even from the couch, it's pretty d*** easy to identify patterns in the games that they've lost.

At about 10:30 tonight, this will happen in the Bruins locker room:

Hearing Boston people complain about a lack of class is... well, parody died the day Kissinger won the Peace Prize, so I guess it doesn't break any new ground.

Go Bruins tonight. Hating every person with that obnoxious accent aside, that would be the first great final in a long, long time.

Sooooo, Tampa fans can act like Bruins fans but we can't call them classless like everyone else here calls Bruins fans? Hmmmm, interesting. We can say that because we know from where we speak. :) And I hate you too Kepler!

As I mentioned, Tampa will be winning this game because JC Penny advertised Conference Champion tshirts yesterday. The CEO of that chain must also be on the I Hate Everything Boston bandwagon that so many of you occupy, because no self respecting hockey fan would ever promote that the day before the game actually happens.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Nor should he have been. Tampa doesn't deserve hockey anyway.

Panthers? Agree. Thrashers? Absolutely agree. Coyotes? Probably agree.

Hurricanes? Disagree. Yzerbolts? Definitely disagree.

Though they do need to work on the quality of their ice if they're going to be regulars in the postseason.

/thread. Well played.

What’s odd about this series is that unlike philly/ montreal, I really don’t dislike tampa bay’s team. To be honest, tampa doesn’t deserve this team. They can have steve downie though, that guy is a thug.

No one in the United States deserves hockey, since we all bail on our teams for some other sport the minute they suck. Edmonton fans scoff at all of our whining.

I got bored of New Jersey after their 2003 cup and started following boston when they were average/below average. Been on board since. Plus, I am a UNH fan.

and I should have clarified, 7% or greater....

New Jersey's a special case. They tried to kill the sport.

Hockey suffered under Jacques LeMaire, was crucified, died, and was buried. It descended into East Rutherford, New Jersey in accordance with the scriptures.

Thankfully, it was resurrected in 2005. :p

I would consider it a choke because they blew Game 4, and if they lose, they had 2 shots to do it. That's unacceptable in my opinion.

I love the team this year, and am thrilled with how they have played. But this is the year. Thomas is having a season we won't see again for decades, Crosby and Malkin are hurt, so no Pittsburgh competition, Detroit got eliminated out West, and they were the only team I didn't think Boston could beat. Everything is lining up, this won't happen again for a long while. They need to seize this opportunity and win.

Making it to the conference finals in game 7 vs a team with nearly identical records and a slew of all world first rounders. I mean come on, we re UNH fans and know what choking is ( sorry had to say it).

Honestly I’d say boston is outclassed in this series and has managed to bring it to game 7. This ain’t Boston blowing 3-0, or several 3-1 leads against a lower seed. This is hard fought, close playoff hockey.

I think this team can be better next year...
