Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Looks like the red wings lose a lot with rafalski retiring this year. Can’t glean too much from the article, but he seems like a stand up guy. Props to him for making the choice.

The panic level will spike if Lidstrom decides it's time to raise his kids in Sweden. $12 million in cap space from retiring D-men, and no one to really spend it on.

Holland has already said that he's willing to trade to replace Rafi - this is indeed a pretty unimpressive crop of UFAs. If Lidstrom calls it quits, well...in Ken Holland we trust.

Re: Wings' D situation - why not Michigan native James Wisniewski? Seems like a good fit.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

3 GPG = 10% "Even Strength Power Play"... the NHL is more like 2.5... let's call it 2.4 for easy numbers... 2.4/30=8%... Bruins playoff PP... lower than 6.7%... yeah, worse than even strength.

Your expendable trading pieces are almost as unimpressive as ours. Are the UFA forwards any better?

Wiz has been talked about. Might end up overpaying for a guy who's only had one good year though.

If we're going to overpay for a blue-liner, I'd rather it be Bieksa than Wiz. Wiz sucked with the Blackhawks, sucked with the Ducks, and somehow sucked hard enough on the Islanders to get a trade to Montreal.

I'd rather take the CCHA'er over the local kid.

How about trading Hudler for Bogosian... ;)

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Oh well. I thought because I left the state they would do better in Tampa. This will not end well, I'm afraid.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Sadly, no. this game is sucktastic. And it's on Versus. They might as well tatoo it on my balls.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Boston's D needs to learn how to defend 2 on 1s. Good God. If you're not gonna take shooter, that pass CANNOT get through.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Did the bruins get a 1st or 2nd rd pick from TOR for taking kaberle off their hands??

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Did Marchand get a new skate yet? Did Jacobs buy everyone a 2nd pair?!? :p

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I fully expect the Bruins to win this series, but you got to be a bit edgy knowing that TB has scored 5 goals in 4 of the first 6 games

Thoughts on Game 6...

Boston needs to learn to show up when the game starts, not a minute later. The early goals are awful. Credit to Tampa for the hot start.

The officiating was overall not bad tonight. The penalty on Kaberle, and the hook on Lecavalier in the third were both pretty poor calls. Outside of that and the missed high stick on St. Louis right before Krejci's first, I didn't see too many missed calls.

Tampa's Power Play finally came through, and it was the difference tonight. Boston has been playing with fire all series, and tonight they got burned. Some dumb penalties, namely Ference's cross check.

Ference was absolutely AWFUL tonight. I mentioned the penalty, but that two on one he played absolutely awful. You cannot let that pass, either of them, get through. If you're gonna do that, may as well cover the shooter.

Faceoffs again were key. For the 6th straight game, the winner of the faceoff battle won the game. Directly led to a pair of goals for Tampa.

The Bruins top line was very, very good. Lucic played great tonight, as did Krejci. It was nice to see the Bruins Power Play finally start to click, but it was a bit too late.

Neither Roloson OR Thomas played well at all tonight. Soft goals all around. Roloson should've had the first two, and Thomas should've had the first and third goals.

Tampa fans complained about Boston fans throwing towels on the ice, but at least those don't do any damage! The throwing of the noisemakers on the ice, directly at players (Both Boston's AND Tampa's) was disgusting. I was very dissapointed to see that.

Not looking forward to another two days of stress and anticipation, but Game 7's are always entertaining to watch. I expect nothing different on Friday. Faceoffs again will be key, as will Special Teams.
