2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Did they increase the ticket prices this year?

How much do season tickets cost?

Again, I thought that the tickets didn't seem all that high this year (but, I'm not buying them either).

Season tickets are $390, but you also need to be a part of the champions club (which then determines where you sit).

For example:
Century Club = $120 (so, $510 for seasons tickets) and you get to sit in the upper corners
Varsity Club = $360 (so, $750 for season tickets) and you get to sit in the upper bowl below the press box (center ice)
Captains Club = $725 (so, $1115 for season tickets) and you get to sit in the lower bowl ends
Coaches Club = $1200 (so, $1590 for season tickets) and you get to sit in the lower bowl corners
Directors Club = $3025 (so, $3415 for season tickets) and you get to sit lower bowl center ice behind players benches

There is also Diamond ($12,500+) and Emerald ($6,440+), which gets you seats in the same section as the Directors Club.

You also get other perks for other sports with these memberships, such as discounts at the Sioux Shop.

Also, you have to be at least in the Coaches Club to get 4 season tickets. Anything less and you can only get 2.

I believe that season tickets are sold out and that you have to be on a waiting list to be able to purchase them, but I haven't been close to the situation for awhile so that may have changed. Also, my pricing reflects the last brochure I got about the Champions Club, so the prices may have changed.

Fighting Sioux, is it Minnesota this season followed by the Fighting Sioux in the WCHA this season?

Who out there in other conferences do you think have a shot in 2012-2103?
Michigan
Boston University
Miami
Boston College
ECAC?
Ohers?

All the options you listed there I think have a shot.

I would put the WCHA top 4 at:
Minnesota, North Dakota, SCSU, and Wisconsin

I think Minnesota and North Dakota are about as equal as you can get, but Minnesota has quite a bit easier schedule, and hosts North Dakota in their only series this season, so I think Minnesota probably wins the WCHA regular season title. SCSU and Wisconsin are both very quality teams though, and could definitely make some noise if they make the NCAA Tournament. I see SCSU as being more polished this season, and if they can get consistent goaltending, they could be a very difficult team to play in March/April.

As for your list...

Michigan/Miami - I think the Wolverines will be very talented and should be able to score goals. I think Western is a bit better than they are, and I think Western probably makes some big noise this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Western wins it all this season. As for Miami, I think they could be dangerous, but I don't see them as a huge threat this season. I think they will be on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament, and right now, I would include them in any prediction to make that tournament, but I don't see them advancing to the Frozen Four at this point.

BU/BC - I think Lowell could be added to this group out in Hockey East as far as contenders go nationally. I think BC has everything in place to make another run, and if BU can focus on hockey and avoid other distractions that they can be dangerous as well.

ECAC - As for the ECAC, I think Cornell, Harvard, and Union are all talented enough to make the NCAA tournament. I don't think that any of the school's here have the talent to win it all, but anything can happen in a single elimination tournament. If I had to pick just one, I would take Cornell at this point in time. They seem to have the tools to make it to the Frozen Four. I think Danny Biega is a world-class player, and could very well lead Harvard to a nice run to and through the NCAAs as well.

Other teams? - Well, I would never count out Air Force or RIT. They seem to be very strong teams that could always make a run in March. I think Bentley will be somewhat of a darkhorse there this season with Brett Gensler. He's a stud, and could very well be a Hobey Finalist this season. I think Notre Dame has the pieces in place to do something big, but they have yet to do much of anything nationally since their run in '08. Getting Mario Lucia back for the second half of the season could be huge for the Irish. Other than that, I'm sure we'll see another Cinderella story that will shock everyone. That could be a team like Michigan Tech, or even a team like Providence. I wouldn't bet money on either of those teams to win games in the NCAA Tournament (or even get there), but I also wouldn't be all that surprised if they were able to piece everything together and have a great season.

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

My best guess would be about $125-150 for upper bowl, and $200+ for lower bowl. I wouldn't be surprised if prime locations could fetch $300/ticket. For Denver this season, they have them on StubHub from anywhere from $90-200/ticket, with anything in the lower bowl going for $125+.
And to think I sold my 2 seats in the upper bowl for the DU and CC series for 25 bucks a ticket.

I am a Century Club season ticket holder and I paid 950 bucks for my pair this year.

I sure hope they didn't get Rocco drunk.

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

I was wondering when this years players would get in some trouble. It's like clockwork really.

Coach Bohl should take note.

Nice to see the coach and the AD out front on this and responding to it - unlike the coach and ad to the south. I think that coach will have their attention now...

This should just not happen though. Not the way to start the season. Last year it was injuries which are going to happen and nothing can be done about them but this is preventable obviously. I'm not happy with the so called leadership one bit.

An inside source said the party was in celebration of Dick Stewart dying. "Ding Dong Dick is Dead" was what the invitations said. I must say I approve.

Very disappointing indeed. I'm glad to see Hakstol take the appropriate action and suspend the "leaders" on the team for the first game. There was also this nugget from Goon's Article...

Goon's World Article said:
In addition to the suspension of the team captains, Faison also announced several additional team disciplinary measures including, but not limited to:
o Athletics Department-issued team probation under which any further violations by a team member could result in immediate reduction of scholarship, suspension from competition, or expulsion from the program.
o The implementation of a mandatory team community service program
o Weekly team alcohol education programming

Hopefully that gets the team's attention right now, and for the rest of the season. We will be severely crippled in that game against UAA, but hopefully our underclassmen show our captains some leadership out on the ice and play well.

Again, very disappointing. Hopefully they have learned and this lights a fire under the captains to not only lead the team appropriately, but play top notch hockey throughout the season.
