2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Well if you are satisfied with having a terrible source who isn't house trained, I guess I can't stop you. Go right ahead and continuing being lost in the world.
I don't have many sources like some cool people. :(

Nice to see the coach and the AD out front on this and responding to it - unlike the coach and ad to the south. I think that coach will have their attention now...

This is a complete change from the usual. Normally, a UND team captain can have a DWI for a week or two, or a player needs to get bailed out and make the Star Tribune before Hakstool does something. Did Rocco convert him? He must hate not having all those overage Canadians like back when UND could win a Championship.

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Per Brad, team captains suspended for season opener at uaa for having a team party saturday that I can only assume included alcohol... not the start anyone was looking for this year.

This is actually a good thing for the team if the message is loud and clear.
These are some of the ways how Jerry York would have handled this:

a)Instead of a one game suspension, boot them for 2 games and make them stay home instead of going to Alaska.(too numerous to cite, but why take along players not playing?)
b)Strip them of their captains letters for several games.(ex: Boyle and Rooney in 2007 the year MSU stunned them in the NC)
c)Sit them for many games as well.(ex:Milner last year before his torrid run to a NC)
d)Had it been on a trip, tell them to find their own way home, and quite possibly never return to the team.(ex: Motherwell, O'Hanley at the beginning of the 2008 championship year)

Now Jerry is quite the gentleman but he never puts up with nonsense. Sure some players get out of line but they learn very quickly, and if you are caught no one is exempt from discipline.

When you run a hockey first, academics second program with major entitlement, this is what happens. Just go look at BU to see the East Coast version of this kind of program. Embarassing!!

Perhaps UND should look to Harvard's athletic department as an example and have an organized cheating ring.

A cheating ring and petition fraud are everyday occurences on college campuses Dirty. College kids drinking is so rare. How embarrassing. They just need to shut the hockey program down at UND. Disgusting.

The rap sheet on North Dakota hockey players is both long and distinguished. Maybe an incident chronology would bring some perspective to this.

Last I checked, both basketball players cited in cheating scandal are out for the year. If this happened at UND, would they get docked more than 2 games?

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Faison announcing "Weekly team alcohol education programming" sounds like UND's version of AA. A bit over the top in my opinion.

"Hi, my name is Jack Daniels, I'm an alcoholic. When I'm not juicing I play hockey for UND".

Please do post the list for us. We would all appreciate your unbiased opinion on this situation.

If by both players being out for the year you mean one of the players dropped out of school so he could maintain eligibility for next year. Since UND doesn't allow academic dishonesty like Harvard apparently promotes, we'll likely never find out the answer to your hypothetical question.

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

Nice to see Brock stayed until his Senior season.

Looks like it's been edited.

Luckily for The ?oux this is only for one game. I was there at BU last year for the majority of their games when they lost their players. It was a killer for them to lose those guys for the whole year, especially since Nicastro and Trivino were joined by Coyle who upped and left the school. It knocked out an entire line and most likely took out the BU chances at making noise in the tournament. Had they had those three, I don't think they'd have lost to Minnesota.

Re: 2011-2012 North Dakota Offseason Thread

I don't get it. How do you tell a 25-year-old he can't consume alcohol? Must have been meth.
