2011-12 MN Gophers Season Thread Pt II: Still Full Of Pride!

Re: 2011-12 MN Gophers Season Thread Pt II: Still Full Of Pride!

Hey, the Goofers did score 3 against us. More than SCSU (1) and DU (0) combined.

The Goofers are like Randy Moss; they both have more "quit in them".

Weird fans?

Weird like telling Native Americans how they should feel about a racist nickname?

Or weird like trying to retain a racist nickname to the detriment of an athletic department?

Or weird like a Nazi sympathizer as a primary benefactor?

Please explain.

Can't wait for the Big 10 Conference so we can scratch you rodents off of the schedule. Have fun playing Penn State 4 times every season. Maybe you can even schedule a Big 10 vs. ACC challenge. Think big!

Being a season ticket holder and a goalie, there is one thing that I have noticed about the U of M. And that is when Patterson is off, the gophers fall apart. I could tell from warm-ups vs. UND that Patterson would not play his game, he was sloppy in puck handling and rebound control, he wasn't aware of his location in the net, and he didn't have his natural flow that he will when he plays his game.

If I were Lucia, I would have put Shibrowski in after the first period, when it was evident that Patterson wasn't playing his game. Go back and watch every loss that the gophers took, and you will see that Patterson will make sloppy small mistakes that lead to big goals.

The worst thing about a goalie being off his game, is there is nothing you can do to fix it, you just have to work through it, and it hits at random times. Just look at how Tim Thomas (Bruins) has played recently.

I'm not sure I'd describe those things as weird. Maybe something more like being so dense they couldn't either see or understand a little humor if it walked on up and poked them in the eye.

The Gophers get BU at the X, Sioux Western Michigan the other game.

Yeah, that whole genocide thing was a laugh riot.

What's not to like?

We?

Yeah, I'm sure what you think carries a lot of weight with the UND administration.

And no need for UND to scratch any teams off their list. There's a well established line of schools already scratching UND of theirs.

Not condoning anything done to the native populations of the American continent, but it's not like the Europeans intentionally killed millions with smallpox and measles; the transmission of those diseases was inevitable once contact was made and trade commenced. Plus while the Europeans wanted to colonize the continent, they also wanted slave labor. You can't easily get that if everybody is dead.

Scooby, you're too optimistic. I don't think MN keeps it that close, nor do I think they get two goals on Milan. :p

I'm surprised the selection committee passed up on a potential BU/BC in-your-face rivalry matchup, not to mention a truckload of benjis. Maybe they were trying to prevent a beanhead riot in bean town. Should be a very entertaining West regional though, but I'm not so confident my Gophers will make it out alive. My prediction: this is the year for Hakstol and UND to finally get the hardware...ugh.

Maine brings a ton of fans. They are like North Dakota of the East in many ways. NCAA will be making good coin from Worcester.

I rest my case.

My money is on BC.

If MN goes into vengeance mode, they could make it through. However, if they remain in brick mode, they could be done Saturday night. BU did not impress me when I saw their game vs Maine. They have a few skilled guys up front and a very solid goaltender, but that's pretty much it for them. They gave up a ****load of shots to UNH and Maine in the HE tournament.

Maine will fill seats, but nothing like the intensity of a BU/BC matchup to tear Boston in half.
