2011-12 MN Gophers Season Thread Pt II: Still Full Of Pride!

Re: 2011-12 MN Gophers Season Thread Pt II: Still Full Of Pride!

LOL at this guy feeling the need to go into another schools season thread and talk about how great program is

congrats on every kid on the east coast committing to the same school because no other programs are any good. we're happy for you. now go steal northeasterns recruits last minute again. anything for a win right?

Hahaha this is a classic, one of the dumber posts I've read. Do you know how to read? I was responding to a post and didn't say anything about how great the BC program is. Apparently you know jack squat about recruiting in the northeast because BU always recruits a ton of talent. And really, you're going to make a comment like that when a ton of great players from Minnesota go on to play for the Gophers? What delicious irony. And when a head coach leaves and a PLAYER decides to re-open his recruitment...that's not "stealing" a recruit, dumbass.

You missed the point again...but I left this three days ago. So I suggest you get over it.

Perhaps there simply wasn't a point...or it was just a stupid point to begin with.

No, there was a point. Primarily that despite a very youthful and inexperienced squad, the Gopher players achieved quite a lot this season and ended up losing to a better and more experienced team.

BC is a better and more experienced team. That's not a knock on BC. It's giving them credit. And it's giving the BC coaching staff credit for foresight, exceptional recruiting and instilling a "sense of team" that has admittedly been lacking from MN for the 3-4 years leading up to this season. If you choose to take that to mean that BC doesn't "deserve" what they have accomplished, that's your problem. I don't think it was ever implied, and your decision to take it as such says more about you than it does the poster whom you originally quoted.

I'm not going to go into some of the responses from my fellow Gopher fans, because quite frankly YOU were the one who entered this thread in a hostile manner, so it's no surprise that others responded to you in like fashion.

I can understand Wasmania coming into this thread and purposefully taking that quote out of context to make something out of it that was never intended...he's a Sue fan, and an asshat to boot.
But your team has continued on a historic run and is the class act of NCAA hockey. And you still want to come in here and pound your chest and quibble over this ****? That's pretty pathetic man.

Well said.

Well, thanks for clearing this up for me. I'm glad you were able to determine what he implied. I simply disagree--I was going off what he actually wrote. Something tells me he doesn't/wouldn't agree with how you've explained it above.

I'm not going to go into some of the responses from my fellow Gopher fans, because quite frankly YOU were the one who entered this thread in a hostile manner, so it's no surprise that others responded to you in like fashion.

So, it doesn't matter what a Gopher fan might say...because they're one of your own? Wow. I took issue with a specific guy, didn't expect this flock of seagulls to follow. Sorry.

But your team has continued on a historic run and is the class act of NCAA hockey. And you still want to come in here and pound your chest and quibble over this ****? That's pretty pathetic man.

Pound my chest? I certainly haven't done that. But maybe that's you being able to determine what was implied again

This is a message board. It's not the first time someone has taken issue with a specific post from someone else...I don't see how that's pathetic.

Re: 2011-12 MN Gophers Season Thread Pt II: Still Full Of Pride!

So is this the consensus then, that age/early departures is the key reason for the loss to BC?
No. BC had the superior team.

Age, early departures, the maddening continued presence of Hill, and Lucia's illness all contributed to the uncharacteristic four year stretch of mediocrity. The last two things stopped being issues heading into this season, and the team returned to the Frozen Four. If we luck out and don't lose anyone early this offseason, next year's team should be a threat to repeat as league champions and return to the Frozen Four (hopefully with a better result).

The future is looking very bright for MN - provided we don't get decimated with early departures like happened 5 years ago.
