2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Not so fast, junior.

The Bruins are taking their PR notes from the Red Sox in how to throw someone under the bus and out of town.

This is a terrible article and Chris Gasper should stick to sports he knows.

As evidence of "Boston" wanting to trade Savard, he cites the years old quote from an old man who has no effective say in the team, and that the new President (who's duties have not been publicly defined) played for him? Then, he rehashes the unpopular argument, yet lists only positive quotes from his teammates.

I'd love to rip this abortion of an article apart FJM style, but I don't think anyone in Boston takes Gasper's hockey opinions very seriously anyway.

Flyers re-sign Leighton to a two-year, $3.1 mil deal, and Boucher has another year left on his contract. I guess Nabby wanted too much dough and they're just going to cheap out again.

Oh, and I guess Brind'Amour is done too.

TRADE!

Toronto obtains: Kris Versteeg, Billy Sweatt
Chicago obtains: Viktor Stalberg, Chris DiDomenico, Philippe Paradis

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

I guess that's OK for Toronto. They give up a few prospects for a solid player who can help them now, and a guy who is mostly a speed skater.

So the Flyers are comfortable with Leighton/Boucher? It sounds silly for me to ask that as they went to game six of the Stanley Cup Finals, but I still wouldn't want that duo.

I like the deal. This is basically a one-for-one swap with a few bodies thrown into the mix.

Versteeg is a versatile forward that can play all three positions and contribute at both ends of the ice.

Tough to give up Stalberg - he literally was up and down with the Leafs, but will likely develop into a solid NHL'er in the future. Burke gave up that future for an immediate return with 'Steeg.

Sweatt has speed, but can he produce at the NHL level? Paradis and DiDomenico are probably career AHL'ers.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Versteeg could be a 30 goal guy with a decent center and 1st line minutes. Good deal for Toronto, which stinks for Boston's pick next year. Oh well.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Paradis and DiDomenico are probably career AHL'ers.

Tough to say that when those two guys have played a combined 4 games in the AHL. DiDomenico missed a ton of time thanks to a horrific broken leg injury and Paradis was a late call up for the Marlies last year after leaving the QMJHL. Not saying they won't possibly be busts, but they're not busts yet.

Couple of things blowing up right now:

Flyers appear close to acquiring Andrej Meszaros from the Lightning for a 2nd round pick.

Calgary and Boston may be close on a deal for Marc Savard that sends Robyn Regehr back in return. If that is the deal, that works out very well for both teams.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

First two deals done within the first two minutes.

Marty Biron to the Rangers for 2 years, $1.75 million

Dan Paille resigns with the Bruins for 2 years, $2.15 million

Money is TOTAL money earned...not per year.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Sergei Gonchar to Ottawa for 3 years, $5.5 million per and a NTC.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Eric Christensen resigns with the Rangers for two years after they couldn't get him done before the deadline...

Don't know money yet.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Alex Tanguay back to Calgary for a one year deal. No word on $$$ yet

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Braydon Coburn stays with Philly...2 years $6.4 million.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Calgary and Boston may be close on a deal for Marc Savard that sends Robyn Regehr back in return. If that is the deal, that works out very well for both teams.

I want no part of this deal. Regehr is a good defenseman, but considering Boston's utter inability to score last season I don't know what sense it makes to trade away your best playmaker - immediately after finding him a scoring winger.

Chiarelli really boggles my mind.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

The Biron signing is outstanding for the Rangers, IMHO. Cheap money for a guy that can effectively give Lundqvist a break more often than he's got in the past.
