Anton Babchuk resigns with Carolina for one year and 1.4 million.

Also, Pittsburgh HEAVILY courting Paul Martin now and both sides want to do a deal per TSN. Stay tuned.

This is an extremely optimistic projection. I like Versteeg quite a bit, but he's not a first-line winger on a good team.

Good because Toronto isn't a good team:cool:

I still think its a great addition for Toronto whether he ends putting up first or second line numbers. He's a great two-way player.

I would have loved him on the Rangers.

No question about it, a good acquisition for Toronto. But the point is to become a good team, and if he's on your first-line, you're not. You're also playing pretty fast-and-loose with the word "great".

He'll be second line in Toronto. Bozak will get more play next year and I'd bet anything that Kadri plays for the Leafs as well. Don't have a clue what they'll be after in free agency but Versteeg isn't getting first line minutes. He's a top 6'er for sure though.

Eric Christensen's deal is reportedly worth 2 years, $1 million per.

Rangers have signed two players for less than a $2 million cap hit. How does that happen?!:cool:

Now attention shifts to Staal, Girardi, Lombardi, and Prospal.

Just saw your note below. They'd be losing a little bit of offensive skill but that's probably a move in the right direction given the age difference. I can understand why they'd do that.

It is going to suck being a Devils fan for at least a few years (leaving myself wide open there, have at it fellas). I can't see them digging themselves out of their cap issues.

Rangers' signing looks even better after Montreal pays Auld $1 million for a year.
