To be fair... you don't need bandwagon fans with no knowledge of history for a Chicago fanbase to suck.

It's in their blood.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

How many of them would understand why I want to face Montreal just so I can give a big middle finger to Jocque Lamiar if we were able to hoist the cup in front of the Habs...

Errr... what's the connection with "Jocque Lamiar"??

In the 1971 Stanley Cup Finals, the Blackhawks led Game 7 2-0 late in the 2nd period... Bobby Hull had just put a shot off the crossbar... Had his shot gone in, it would have put the Hawks up 3-0... Instead, the Canadiens came back down the ice... Just after crossing the center line, Lamaire let a shot go... Players claimed that the shot dropped 6-8 inches over the distance... Goalie Tony Esposito never saw the puck...

The Hawks never recovered and ended up losing the game 3-2... Basically it was the Hawks equivilent to Bucky Dent's HR for Boston fans... Although I guess I should hold a grudge against Henri Richard... I mean, he had the other 2 goals... Lamaire's was just what got the ball rolling...

Huh. In hindsight, I blame the title of this thread. 1st two threads had mocking references to Sharks in it. This one is all Chicago, like the 3rd round. So y'all need to be racing each other to start the 4th one with whoever you want to win the cup.

If someone titles it "Broad Street Bullies Keepin' It Real" I will hunt them down and cut them.

As a life-long fan, I am so happy to see the team finally return to prominence... The late 90's and most of the 2000's were hard times all around... There was just nothing exciting to see at the UC... Now we have a young team that plays with a ton of heart, and totally respects the history of this franchise... It's quite rewarding to see this team succeed...

At the same time, I have absolutely had it with the bandwagon... This city turned it's back on this team and left them to die.... In 2006 and 2007, the Hawks were outdrawn by the Chicago Wolves on many occasions... No one cared... People my age had totally forgotten about guys like Belfour, JR, Chelios and Amonte... And yet now they are out touting their Towes and Kane jerseys talking about how they have been "Lifelong" fans... I makes me absolutely sick...

I'll be honest, I will probably drop $150+ to attend one of the finals games at the UC... I have to wonder how many people in the stadium will actually come even close to caring as much as I do however... I mean, how many people there ever experienced the original "Madhouse on Madison"? How many of them would understand why I want to face Montreal just so I can give a big middle finger to Jocque Lamiar if we were able to hoist the cup in front of the Habs... The more I think about it, the more embarassed I am of this fanbase... I want this team to win so bad, but at the same time, a very small part of me almost wants them to fail, just so all the "wannabes" will go away...

You in some defense, the ownership of the team pretty much did everything they could to kill and soil the name of the Blackhawks during the 90's and early 00's so it's no surprise that people bailed on them. Ownership change to somebody who actually cares about winning and this is what you get. On behalf of fans of many other NHL teams: Quit your *****in'.

I remember going to a playoff game vs. colorado around 94 or 95??, and I was wearing my Wisconsin Jersey as both Gary Suter and Chris Chelios were here at the time....man, I never had so much beer spilled on me at a game before. the idiots thought from behind it was a red wings jersey....ugh

Maybe they knew it was a Sconny jersey. :p

If his performance in the entire playoff run won't, nothing will.
No cable, so I haven't been able to see much of the Habs' playoff run (really just one period of the game on NBC this past Saturday). I have been surprised by the amount of praise that has been heaped on him this year.

The Blackhawks have the most annoying goal song in the league.
Isn't it the same as Merrimack's?

Hershey is in the AHL Calder Cup finals again. Their 22nd appearence in the cup finals, winning 10 of them. They finished 60-17-0-3. There are two AHL teams I hate personally, and Hershey is on that list.

I like Hershey because Mike McHugh (NYA and Maine alum) was their captain. During the summer hockey camp in '92, when the other counselors were at the golf course, he and John LeClair were down in the bowels of Alfond hitting hockey pucks off pieces of cardboard into a hockey net. I have never forgotten how hard they worked to get where they were, nor how hard they worked to stay there.

You hate not one AHL team personally, but two of them...Okaaay.

(Steps away carefully)

Course, it's hard to be a fan when the ownership refuses to televise the team to the home market. I hate bandwagoners as much as the next, but the Hawks ownership was so bad that I really can't blame people for leaving til he died.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

RPIs Neil Little played for Hershey forever. Hershey gets a pass.

Hershey is also a reason why the Caps shouldn't be so hard-pressed to go digging around for defensemen in the off-season. Carlson and Alzner should be full time guys for the Caps next year. But yet, someone at the Ottawa Sun thinks the Caps are ready to give Anton Volchenkov $5 million a year. If they can swindle someone into taking Alex Semin, I'd say do it.
