Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

On one shot he looks like the best goalie ever, then the next shot he looks totally lost. Same with Niemi.

Chicago returns to the Cup finals for the first time since 1992.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Nothing to be ashamed about if you're the Sharks. They ran into a rocket fuel-powered buzz saw.
Most evenly played series sweep in sports history? I can't honestly say the Blackhawks definitively outplayed San Jose in any of the four games. Nip-and-tuck all the way through.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

The Sharks' glaring inability to create/extend/protect leads and score clutch goals in this series was not his fault though.

They could pay a goalie 1/5th of what they paid Nabokov to lose sight of the puck, refuse to actually go into the butterfly, have a 5-hole wider than most hookers I know and to flop like a crappy version of Hasek.

Hopefully next year, they do, and shore up the D some instead.

The biggest thing I've picked up in this playoff, and in general post lockout, is that big name goalies aren't all that. Nabby, Turco, Brodeur, Kipper, Luongo, Lundqvist, -Bulin, Huet. All these guys aren't justifying the cap space they take up when it counts.

I'll hold off on tearing Heatley a new a-hole until after they announce how many surgeries he's having on his knee, but he was a Mike-Greenesque level of cap worthlessness as he was. Offhand without getting into Capgeek, I'd let Nabby walk, Blake and Wallin retire, and deal Heatley if you can get away with it. Never would have said it two weeks ago, but I'd rather keep Marleau than Heatley, especially if Marleau's willing to take something like 8 years, 44 million frontloaded to retire here.

It's good here and there, but when they put up a ton of goals, yeah I'm sure it gets annoying. Perhaps they should score less frequently.

Montreal's is really annoying. For a team with great fans and knowledgeable fanbase, the length of their goal horn is....annoying.

Balls.

Blech. Go Eastern Conference. I hated Chicago before this, and it certainly doesn't make me love them any more. Except Duncan Keith. He needs to have a child with Drew Doughty and they need to let me raise it.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

As a life-long fan, I am so happy to see the team finally return to prominence... The late 90's and most of the 2000's were hard times all around... There was just nothing exciting to see at the UC... Now we have a young team that plays with a ton of heart, and totally respects the history of this franchise... It's quite rewarding to see this team succeed...

At the same time, I have absolutely had it with the bandwagon... This city turned it's back on this team and left them to die.... In 2006 and 2007, the Hawks were outdrawn by the Chicago Wolves on many occasions... No one cared... People my age had totally forgotten about guys like Belfour, JR, Chelios and Amonte... And yet now they are out touting their Towes and Kane jerseys talking about how they have been "Lifelong" fans... I makes me absolutely sick...

I'll be honest, I will probably drop $150+ to attend one of the finals games at the UC... I have to wonder how many people in the stadium will actually come even close to caring as much as I do however... I mean, how many people there ever experienced the original "Madhouse on Madison"? How many of them would understand why I want to face Montreal just so I can give a big middle finger to Jocque Lamiar if we were able to hoist the cup in front of the Habs... The more I think about it, the more embarassed I am of this fanbase... I want this team to win so bad, but at the same time, a very small part of me almost wants them to fail, just so all the "wannabes" will go away...

It's like this in every city except probably Montreal and Toronto. 10-15% of people that go to the games are the true die-hard fans that have always been there. Forget about them (the new fans the 85-90%) and just have fun. When you talk to them they'll know in 2 seconds who's the real fan.

Aside
I remember going to a playoff game vs. colorado around 94 or 95??, and I was wearing my Wisconsin Jersey as both Gary Suter and Chris Chelios were here at the time....man, I never had so much beer spilled on me at a game before. the idiots thought from behind it was a red wings jersey....ugh

but...I DID manage to get both Suter and Cheli to sign that jersey at cheli's chili:D

You should chill. This happens all the time. Teams suck and people stop watching. It if a fact of sports. Just enjoy what is going on with your team and be happy knowing you were the one to stick behind them.

With that being said, Go Eastern Conference :)
