2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

I can't help but think the Flyers got rope-a-doped all playoffs having to deal with the Devils, Bruins and Habs leading up to a potential/probable arse-throttling at the hands of Chicago.

Philly is in for a world of pain.

Well, the Flyers do have a history of not doing well in the finals since they won back in the 70's. Usually they had a grueling run through ridiculously physical back-to-back 7 games series with the Devils/Penguins/Rangers and were lucky to live through the eastern conference before running into a team that played a very different style.

This year they have gotten healthier during the playoffs, excluding boucher, but Leighton has done just fine. They haven't played the max # of games and get a long layoff before Saturday.

The Flyers had a rough regular season and appear to be peaking at the right time...many a name has gone on the cup in that scenario.

This year's team isn't a classic Broad St team, so hopefully they don't get exposed as being slow and penalty prone like past teams have when they face a Western team.

So, I predict it will be a good series, you may be right that the blackhawks win but I predict it goes at least 6 and the Flyers win it on home ice.

We should be able to bet rep points.

:)

Not with Philly and Chicago in the Finals. They've got a quick buck to make.

NBC would rather show reruns of "Chuck" and "30 Rock" than the NHL Finals in prime-time.

Anyone here who thought he'd stay in Detroit as an assistant until Ken Holland decided to not do the job anymore was crazy.

I'm sure Yzerman will do a great job in Tampa.

And once Ken Holland is done, Jimmy Nill has been next in line for a while, and then maybe Yzerman after him.

I am looking forward to the finals and I am sure the NHL is too. You've got two hockey-hungry major (top 5) TV markets (market #3 - Chicago and market #5 - Philadelphia) with teams that have not won a Cup in 49 years (Chicago) and 35 years (Philadelphia).

Ratings should be pretty good.

Agreed on this. These are two iconic franchises that everyone knows. It's not as if we've got Hurricanes-Oilers or Ducks-Senators again here.

Considering the size of these two fan bases, the ratings should pick up a little bit.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Pro and Cons of who I should root for:

Chicago
Has a Badger alum on the team (Pro)
Is captained by a Sioux alum (Con)
The entire city of Chicago smells like a urinal (Con)
Grew up a North Stars fan, hate the Blackhawks (Con)
Technically, they are the local team, since the NHL isn't in Milwaukee. (Pro)
That's only true because Bill Wirt$ fought tooth and nail to keep the NHL out of Milwaukee (Con)
I genuinely ****ing hate Chicago sports fans (Con)
Seven Teeth Keith (Pro)

Philly
If they win, will likely be an inspiration for a great episode of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" (Pro)
Is a sports team from Philadelphia and therefore has terrible fans (Con)
I was previously cheering for Montral (Con)
I have to admit, it was hilarious to hear Flyers fans mock the Habs with the "Ole Ole Ole" cheer (Pro)
Chris Pronger is a douuchenozzle (Con)
Actually... a lot of their players are douuchenozzles (Con)
Okay, but they work their tails off, which I like to see (Pro)
I'm not a big fan of Rocky (Con)
Chris Pronger is a douuchenozzle (Con)
Philadelphia is an interesting city that doesn't smell like a urinal (Pro)
Chris Pronger is a douuchenozzle (Con)
Honestly, I hate the idea of Chris Pronger ending up with his name on the cup again (Con)

You know what? **** Pronger, I'm pulling for Chicago. I guess.

I can't wait to see what Pronger does with Bufeyfahrwlaglin in front of the net. That'll be a fun match-up. The Flyers defense is pretty darned good with 4 guys that play the entire game and are both physically and offensively gifted (except Coburn's offense).

Go Flyers!

They are both about the same height, so the professor may not be able to apply the principles of Pronger Physics™ to whatever happens this time.
