Regarding your rep to me, do you find it slightly ironic that you say "you judge me by a few lines on the message board; you don't know me at all", yet feel that you can call me an idiot based on 'only knowing me by a few lines from a message board'?That's a pretty good description.
I wish - I could buy Leah Thompson a boob job! ...oh, and be insanely rich.
Yeah, none of those are very comforting right now (especially not the NBA title - seriously, the NBA? Who gives a *?).
I can already see the offseason marketing campaign as they fire the coach and claim their vaunted draft prowess will lead the team to the promised land....only to have them fire the coach against next year while they fail to sign their top draft choices..
I'm sorry, I get cranky when people who don't know me at all tell me what I'm thinking, or how I'm feeling. Especially when they don't have all of the facts (or seem to be deliberately ignoring some). I guess I just find that idiotic. Not to mention apparently characterizing the attitudes of the entire fanbase based on a few posts on a college hockey message board.Regarding your rep to me, do you find it slightly ironic that you say "you judge me by a few lines on the message board; you don't know me at all", yet feel that you can call me an idiot based on 'only knowing me by a few lines from a message board'?
I mean, if it's ok for you but not me, just say so.

And it's not exactly "objective" to start crying that sky is falling after one bad game. You've been going to hockey games for a long time, if you've never seen a crowd lift up a team when they're struggling or seen a team feed off its crowd's energy and raise their intensity.... then either you're not paying attention or you need to find a new team.
The "this is the team we saw during the regular season, we're screwed, we might as well just quit now' attitude several bruins fans showed in this thread is emblematic of a lot of boston fans. If you don't think that kind of 'support' or outlook can filter over to a team the same way "lets go bruins!" cheers can bring them up on a penalty kill or in a 1-goal game.... then there's no point discussing it.
Even if there is no negative effect from being defeatist, there certainly is zero possibility of there being any positive one. People who only cheer when their team is winning are just front runners in my opinion. Fans support their team and players when they're losing, they don't just shrug and go 'i knew they'd blow it'. They don't throw things on the ice and boo their own team, they stand up and applaud a pretty darn good season - even if it didn't end with a title.
There were bruins fans holding down the fort, but it's kind of hard to do when the loudest fans are the ones yelling about the series being lost when their team was still *ahead* 3 games to 2.
Jon, you're uh kind of proving my point here...
I'm surprised Claude hasn't been fired already

The Bruins have a good core of players under contract for next season, and with the #2 overall pick and a handfull in the first three rounds, they are poised to make some noise in the coming seasons.
There's the Kool-Aid talk Sinden and Jacobs love to hear.
Blame it on the refs??? Yikes. I know the guy's Bruins beat writer but is on the team's payroll? How does something like this get published?
If you could guarantee that the entire fanbase in the arena was on LSD for a playoff game, I'd pay triple face value of a ticket just to witness it in person. Are we also supposed to throw down the LSD tablets like we were a touring funk band? Because that's only way we could see the Bruins winning game seven after games 5 and 6?

I just had a Woodstock like cartoon bubble......Don't take the black & gold acid, man, the black & gold acid is bad, man.
