There is only one thing to say after a game like last night as a diehard Bruins fan it pains me to say. "It's called Bruins"

Fortuitous powerplay goal by Demers.

Chicago will need to stay out of the box as much as possible. Detroit couldn't and they lost.

Bettman/NBC is just praying for a San Jose/Montreal final...

NBC would much rather have Philly in the Finals than Montreal.

The majority of Habs fans will be watching the playoffs on CBC or RDS. And while the Habs do have a large US fanbase, having the Flyers play in a US city trumps that, American-viewers wise.

See that ;) at the top of my post?

But San Jose is a much larger TV market than Chicago.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Lots of loose play on both sides so far. Game 1's always feel like Spring Training after game 7's. :p

I did not! :p

And all of California roots for the Sharks!! Big hockey state...kind of like the Leafs in (English) Canada, with the other Cali teams being the Oilers and Canucks in the analogy. We're talking 23 million hardcore viewers right there!

Heatley teed that shot up, wow

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

WCHA refs doing this game as they called Versteeg for the trip instead of Bolland...

Hawks win game 1 and get home ice.

That's must be why the NHL is a ratings giant for NBC.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

That was a brutal powerplay to watch at the end there. Would the puck ever settle down for a one-timer (or just to stay in the offensive zone for that matter)? Couple tip-in chances, but the puck bounced the wrong way.

Niemi steals Game 1 for the 'Hawks.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Well not a great start but at least this Sharks team doesn't seem to fold like a cheap beach chair under pressure. The Hawks executed their game plan well and all credit to them for taking game one. I'll probably be rooting for them if they beat us.

Balls.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

The Sharks put 45 shots on goal, but Thornton/Marleau/Heatley combined for just five shots at even-strength, and a -6 plus/minus rating.

Niemi's 44 saves were a career-high, nine more than he's ever posted in a game.
