I shut it off after the Flyers went up 4-0 and Price was inserted.

Also, back at the start of the game, did I miss where "God Bless America" became our national anthem?

I'm not too worried about it. Bad games happen. This is certainly one of those.

Indeed. I'm not going to count this squad out until they've been eliminated. They were due for a stinker.

Need to get back to getting badly outchanced to win... ;)

December 11, 1969 -- at least in Philly.

On December 11th, 1969 when Flyers vice president Lou Schienfield ordered the playing of Kate Smith's "God Bless America" in place of "The Star Spangled Banner". He tested several Patriotic songs in an empty arena earlier and it was Kate's song that sounded the best. This was a day when American patriotism was at an all time low and to spark fans that had appear to be disinterested earlier during the playing of the national anthem, a different song was played. There were several angry comments during that first playing, but a Flyers 6-3 win over Toronto changed their tune as well. The Flyers lost their next home game without Kate, but the subsequent home game and Kate's song resulted in another win - and the legend started.

First bad game by Subban in the NHL.

MAB has been horrible. Bring back O'Byrne, bench MAB.

What a savage butt kicking.

And I hate Price's reactions after giving up goals. He hasn't learned much.

Also known as the Nabokov Shrug n' Shake.

To be fair they all played like crap, but still.

Also loved the late glove pop. "We're down 6-0 on the road and I'm the backup sieve, but I'm gonna stick it to the crowd anyway!" ;)

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

[obligitory] Carey Price is an overrated sieve! Hamilton never should have given him an ATO in 2007...

;)

Same thing happened in the last series with Pittsburgh. Played like crap in Game 1, Halak gets chased, lose by something brutal.

Seemed to work OK last time.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Dale Tallon was announced as the new Panthers GM.

Which also spurred every blogger and sports editor to fire up the "Don't let him sign high-priced non talent," and "Don't let him near the mail room" jokes.

It's hilarious, because there was some backdoor dealings that knocked Tallon from the organization. It IS Chicago after all. Huet, Campbell, and the RFA signing snafu weren't all 100% his fault. This two year running Western Conference finals team was his doing.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Let's not forget that Halak has 1 bad game a series. He will bounce back if this postseaon trend continues. I expect Montreal to roar back in Game 2.
