Well that sucks. Good thing he did his skating around in a North Stars jersey thing last season, I could actually still kinda like the guy. Now I'd boo the bastard for wearing that ****ing godaweful Detroilet jersey.

James Murphy of ESPN Boston was just on Montreal's Team 990, and reported that Seguin has signed his entry level deal with Boston.

Did he have big bushy eyebrows? If not then it wasn't Matt Moulson.

Not uncommon for guys drafted later on in the first round. Plus he's spending this next season with the Montreal Juniors. No need to pay out the nose for a kid to play there.

It's a sad reality, but if you're a francophone player in Montreal, you're going to get the benefit of the doubt. Part of the reason Latendresse's development was stunted in Montreal was that they rushed him...they wanted him to be the face of the franchise. He should have spent his first 3 years in the minors. He wasn't ready for the NHL at 19 (and he almost made it at 18).

Price negotiations dragging on:

Gerry Johannson, Price's agent, says that the two sides "are not necessarily close, but it's not that we're not close in a bad way. We're having good conversations and we both are commited to getting things done." Johannson says the slow pace of talks is "relatively normal" and that his hope is to have a deal done by the end of this month or early next month.

Habs ought to just find a way to move on from him, but I guess he's the "Anointed One". Plus, which of the remaining FA goalies has the skills to start and the cajones to deal with the inevitable whining and fingerpointing from the Montreal press and fans? Even Roy could only flip the bird at them for so many years.

They're going to end up giving in and overpaying Price though. I'd bank on it.

Who else is out there that is comparable to him in terms of both skill and cost? I get the impression that there's not much, which would give Price the advantage in the negotiations. It's not like there's a bumper crop of great goalies waiting to be scooped up on the cheap.

Niemi is basically it. I sort of outlined Price's issues today, they're just dicking around over what he makes. He's probably asking for about $3 million a year, but if the Habs offered him $2 million, he should happily take it, especially if it's a short-term deal.

He's probably ****ed that they didn't trade him and keep Halak so he'd have a chance in hell of turning around his career outside of a pressure cooker.
