2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

The 'Hawks have matched SJ's offer. Hjalmarsson will remain in Chicago.

Like I said, win-win.

Chicago now has 5.7 million (assuming Huet is sent down) to sign something like 6-8 players, including two goaltenders. If a guy signs an offer sheet, odds are Bowman was trying to get him to swallow a 2 year 4 million deal or something and give him more money when they have more space.

They can dump Niemi and act like any goaltender can win a cup behind that D....but why wasn't Huet playing, then?

Hopefully they do something completely asinine like sign Toskala for 800k when Niemi's arbitration goes to 2.5 or something.

That won't happen, because it'd be way too laughably, fist-poundingly awesome. :D

And no, Cindy & Bettman jokes will always be around.

Wow, isn't that pretty much what Chiarelli said after the 2nd round exit this year? "Yeah, we blew a 3-0 lead in game 7 and in the series, but at least we were here. Suck it, Buffalo!"

Y'know, I'd suffer them missing the playoffs for a year or two if I thought that the team was actually building towards something. I thought that they might be a couple of years ago, but at this point, it looks like Chiarelli's plans went off-course, and he has no idea how to adjust.

Yeah, unfortunately one of them ended in rather brutal and ignominious defeat.

But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the theater?

Coming from where they were, I'll take three years in the playoffs over the past alternative. Now the question is, can Chiarelli be the guy to put the right team together. Thankfully Rask and Seguin are a great start.

Stay classy, Chicago.

That's Kyle Beech taking on soon to be teammate / former teammate Mathis Olimb. Olimb is rumored to be out for four months with a shoulder injury.

On a different topic, should I feel disgusted that I may have the chance to purchase one or more completely not legit, knock-off jerseys for cheap? I'm torn because they're authentic, for cheap, but aren't just quite right. Few would be able to tell. I saw a couple Blackhawk ones through the source I'd buy a few and without having an authentic RBK next to them, I though they were legit. I know, I get what I pay for, but still... Two minutes and feel shame for even entertaining the thought?

Dirty would make fun of you, but I've got a couple of really nice looking RBK knock-offs and got them as a "Buy one, get one free" from a group I follow on Twitter and Facebook. The sizes are just a hair larger than what they are with the real ones you'd get. With the RBK ones, I get a XXL because they're practically slim-fit jerseys and I don't want to look like a fat idiot. These were huge and the sleeves are obnoxiously long considering.

That said, they look good and it's cheap as hell and everything came stitched on, something that RBK generally won't do unless you're buying $400 authentic jerseys. I will be buying another one eventually from a different site that's come recommended to me (cooljerseys.com) or I'll stick to IceJerseys.com because their stuff was really well done (and legit) just that the wait time to get a jersey is a bit on the long-ish side.

Good to know.

Ben, the Blueland Blogger for the Thrashers has tweeted that the Phillips Arena in ATL is the 2nd best concert venue in the United States, and 5th best in the world.

No truth to an NHL fan vote that ranks the Thrashers as the 63rd best professional hockey team in North America. ;)

Because Huet can turn a good defensive team to the Atlanta Thrashers single handedly.

Signing Toskala would be hilarious though... it would show that the Hawks learned NOTHING from the Huet situation.

Well, the younger Koivu will be in Minnesota for a while. Link.

Seven years, at $47.25 million and $6.75 million per on the cap hit.

Holy crap that's a commitment.

This is very good for Minnesota. Not only are we locking up our team leader, it is one less thing to worry about. Trust me, there is more than enough to keep us busy...
