2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Andre Ethier is ridiculous. That is all.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Andre Either if friggin' awesome.

The result was obviously disappointing with the bullpen hurting the team again, but I liked seeing them battle back late. That's one thing I didn't always see in this team late last season and so far this season was a ton of fight when things weren't going well and they got down. Get 2 of 3 in Phoenix and it will be a successful road trip.

It's hard for me to be too mad about yesterday since I do have Ethier on my fantasy team...at least he was the one the beat the brewers. This team is still very bipolar.
Through 28 games the brewers are 10-0 when scoring 7 or more runs
1-8 when scoring 6-3 runs
1-8 when scoring 2-0 runs

Seems pretty crazy that this team has scored 7 more runs in 10 of 28 games...and has managed this breakdown to go with it:
0 - 4 times
1 - 3 times
2 - twice (one win)
3 - 4 times

Jody Gerut just hit for the cycle.

He was the 6th player due in the 9th and got his chance with 2 outs after Braun and Inglett get hits.

Plus the Crew is up 17-3.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

No matter what happens today, they are guaranteed .500 on a long west coast road swing and will be above .500 on the road. If they can just figure out how to win some games at Miller Park we might just have something. They are still under .500, so hopefully they can get back over the mark and stay there. It's funny how hard it seems to be to make up those games and get back over .500 but digging the hole seems to take no time at all.

great sweep for the crew. Was at the game Friday night. Probably saw me on TV in the 9th inning when Braun made that catch at the wall...caught the ball right below my brother and I was amazing.

Gomez to the DL, Adam Stern called up from Nashville

I am guessing the airline lost the Brewers' offense on the way back from the West trip.

remotely Brewers-related, the new book about Hank Aaron comes out today. I cannot wait to read it.

I wish they could just get these games at Miller Park out of the way so they co.uld get back on the road and do some winning. This is the strangest Brewers' team I've ever seen. They are very good on the road, horrible at home, when they hit they hit like crazy, when they are cold they can't get anything done offensively. If I have some time I'll do it up, but I'd be willing to bet they might have the largest average margin of victory in their wins of any team in the league despite being under .500 and if they don't have the largest average margin of defeat in their losses it is only because Arizona or Pittsburgh is there because of the butt-kickings the Brewers handed to them. I'm just amazed at how few of their games are still in play in the last few innings.

Capuano would be an amazing bonus addition if he stays on his current path. They could actually be in a position to trade away a middle of the road type starter at the trade deadline even if they aren't sellers otherwise.

In case anyone misses Ned, you can see him and the Royals on WGN tomorrow. :p

Brewers are on FOX tomorrow and ESPN on Sunday night. Please try not to embarrass yourselves on national television, guys.

from jsonline - NASHVILLE (AAA): Chris Capuano scattered three hits in eight innings as the Sounds routed the Tacoma Rainiers, 8-0. In four minor-league starts this season, Capuano has recorded three victories and posted a 0.79 ERA.

So how long til the Crew releases Super Pooper and call up Cappy?

the most impressive thing about this game so far has been john axford's stache.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

I can't wait for the day when we see 2 major league caliber teams on display at Miller Park. This morning I vow I will not post again in this thread until one of two things happens - 1) they string together 2 straight wins at home, or 2) there is a new manager to talk about.

On the first point, six weeks into the season I shouldn't be able to rattle off all of their home wins from memory and they shouldn't go nearly the full 6 weeks without consecutive home wins. On the second point, by no means do I think Macha is the only reason things aren't going well, but we all know the drill in major league baseball. This same braintrust had no qualms whatsoever about firing a manager with two weeks to go in the season in the middle of a playoff race so this would seem like small potatoes. If they aren't giving this serious thought to shake things up they apparently stopped caring about winning.

in summary: http://media.jsonline.com/images/660*687/zaun51610.jpg

I agree it's not all Macha, but unless they can find a way to get almost an entirely new pitching staff, or some way to remind them that once upon a time, they were all at least average (if not better), he's probably gone.

I'm not a huge Zaun fan, but quality catching is extremely hard to find, and I'm not sure they're going to do any better.

What a strange, strange season so far.

jsonline poll asks what to do with Davis on the DL... Suppan, Parra, call someone up, or go with a 4 man... umm, none of the above? Is Capuano ready yet?? Even if he isn't, is he going to be any worse than what we have now? I hear Braden Looper isn't busy.....

Off to face the first place Reds.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Page 2 of the Get Your Team Fired Up Manual states that a managerial move designed to create the most signifigant impact on your team should be done at a time your team is playing horribly, playing on the road and/or has an off day. Let's see check, check and, check.

So does Macha get axed in Cincy, Pittsburgh (that would be ironic), or Minneapolis?

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

I should have turned it off when I saw Hoffman on the mound.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

There is NO way in hell Macha can send Trevor out again in a save situation the rest of the year. If he saves the games he blew, they are almost a .500 team. :(
