2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Ah, this takes me back to the days when having sex in the center field bleachers was still acceptable:

I've been in Macha's corner the whole season, but why in the word did he use Trevor in the 8th inning of the last game in a hold situation? That was a careless move. Put a guy who has been worse and awefull into a must win game the day after your team puked up another win? Totally insane.

This morning I vow I will not post again in this thread until one of two things happens - 1) they string together 2 straight wins at home, or 2) there is a new manager to talk about.

Thank you Corey Hart! Yo deserved this win. I've been itching to end my self-imposed hiatus and talk about this team, but I had to keep my word.

It's not only Axford's sweet 'stache, but I'm starting to feel a little better about some of these arms coming up from Nashville. It gives some hope that the long-term plan for the staff may not be solely depending upon overpaying soft throwers.

Corey Hart continues to hit with power after his walk-off by hitting a grand slam (1st career) in the 1st tonight.

4-1 Milwaukee

Edit: Hart with another to make it 7-3.

Hey Sup, grab a glove and break up this winning streak. At this point they just have to eat the rest of his contract and dump him. With the hole they've dug themselves they need to pull out as many of these tight games a possible. As long as he's on the roster there is a risk they'll need to use him in a game still in play like happened today.

Kameron Loe is coming up. No word on who is gone, but let's all keep our fingers crossed, shall we? ;)

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

jen, all signs point to it. We can only hope. There has been some David Riskie sightings as well and he's been nails as high as Nashville. He is almost done with his 30 day rehab assignment.

EDIT - How badly are we wanting pitching you ask? We think Capuano is a better option than several others on the team despite this piece of info I found when reading something up on him on the team's official website.

"Capuano's return gives him a chance to put to rest a nasty streak. Since a May 17, 2007, win over the Nationals in which Capuano worked eight scoreless innings, the Brewers are 0-22 when he has pitched. Capuano is 0-12 with a 6.08 ERA in that span, which includes 18 starts and four relief appearances."

Loe Up, Estrada Down, Stern designated for assignment to make room on the 40 man roster...Suppan is still with the Brewers :(

Suppan must have pictures of Melvin in a compromising position...other than the press conference announcing Suppan's contract. :(

Well Estrada was completely burned out and useless so I guess I can understand sending him down, the question is who goes when Riskie or Davis come back...at that point it better be Suppan although it will probably be a guy like Braddock.

That contract is why he is still here but honestly is that money worth it if it costs the Brewers more games?

Dear Mr. Melvin,

I regret to inform you I no longer have the ability to play this game I love at a level high enough to have the results, you, I, the team and the fans need to see. I am officially retiring as of today.

Thank you,

Jeff Suppan

Wouldn't that look good? Seriously, the guy has to feel guilty going out there knowing he's going to get pounded every single freaking time. All these guys have egos the size of Texas, but the writing is on the wall and he's been staring at it for weeks and weeks now.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

The Suppan situation is just a sad reminder of some of the limitations the Brewers have. We can be excited about the core they developed, but when it comes time to make a big splash to round out an important spot on the roster they are stuck with giving out big money to mediocre players. If Suppan was still an average middle of the rotation guy as he was when he first came to Milwaukee, it would make more sense to try and recover something from the investment. At this point however they are getting no return on their investment just the same as they would if they released him. At least the guy taking his roster spot would have a fighting chance to contribute something.
