2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Before the parade begins somebody please get out the paddles and restart my heart. Despite the overwhelming evidence showing this needed to happen, I never thought it would.

ZAP!

Feel better, or shall I say, do you feel or see anything at all?

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

jsonline had the following stat - money owed to players no longer on the team:

$10 million: Releasing RHP Jeff Suppan

$7.15 million: Amount owed INF Bill Hall, now with Boston.

$1 million: Buyout of RHP Braden Looper's 2011 option.

$400,000: Buyout of RHP David Weathers' option.

I don't disagree with any of these moves, but it would be interesting to see the numbers for other teams.

18.5 Mil would get a decent player assuming thats over 1 or 2 years.

Dontrelle Willis: Released, $10 mil
Nate Robertson: Traded, but the Tigers are picking up all but $400K of his $9.6 mil.

Thanks TA. I'm now fully functioning again.

I enjoyed tonight's game very much. {understatement alert} That's a gutsy win when Lilly was dealing and Marmol comes in with his stuff. I was surprised he didn't go with the high fastball to Casey because I don't think he would have caught up to it. If he had the option of bouncing a slider it may have made more sense, but with a guy on 3rd he had to be careful. Casey didn't exactly knock the cover off it, but it did allow him to get the bat on the ball.

First in-person game of the season tonight. My excitement is magnfied significantly by knowing Suppan won't be pitching. It always seemed like we got Suppan every time we went (4-6 games/yr) and before that it was ol' Jorge. Randy Wolf is an upgrade, however slight, over those two. :)

Ah, um, er...not so much. Ugh.

Jeff Suppan has been reincarnated as a baseball pitcher identical to his former self, except left-handed.

Cardinals are interested in Jeff Suppan. Who would like to wager that he returns to his NLCS MVP-self with them, and specifically, against the Brewers?

Feels great to beat the Cubs.

I figured he'd try to get the 3rd, the rest was just gravy.

Considering Dave Duncan has magical powers beyond those of the characters in my 5 year old daughter's books, I'm not touching this bet.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Corey Hart has 17 home runs and is one off the MLB lead. His highest output for HR's in a year in his career is 24. He hit 12 last year. He has also sat out 8 games.

I have but one disappointment with the current homestand. Where the heck was the shaving cream pie in the face for Lucroy's interview? I hope at least the bullpen stashed his HR ball and really messed a different ball up to give to him for his first career HR.

I bet he got the locker room beer shower, though. :D

so I am going to this afternoon's game... originally because I wanted to see Griffey one last time. oh well. :)

I also went on Thursday and wanted to see Mauer, but he didn't play. Maybe they will bench Ichiro today too. :)
