2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Matchups for the series against the Cards:

Wolf vs. Hawksworth
Narveson vs. Garcia
Parra vs. Carpenter
Gallardo vs Wainwright

Notice who is NOT pitching for St. Louis? (He pitched yesterday).

Today is the last day to vote for All Stars online. Braun is still the leading vote getter in the outfield.

word on the street in AZ is that the d-backs are shopping Dan Haren--for the right price--any chance the brewers would show interest in that?

Two thoughts on that. 1 - Gallardo's health will make a huge difference here. If this is worse than thought we are probably looking at the Brewers as potential sellers. 2 - If Gamel, a starting pitcher of their choice not named Gallardo, and a high draft pick prospect arm with loads of potential but not much production would be close to getting it done I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The Hart to SF rumor is sure hot, although I'm wondering if it because they are in town and their GM made the trip (which they usually do anyway so I wouldn't call this overly unusual). I'm not sure what else they may want for Cain. They sure have an embarassment of riches when it comes to younger starting pitching. I wouldn't be opposed to selling high with Hart because while he has the tools I just don't know that he'll ever be cumulatively above average. It would probably be giving up on the season unless they can move a starter for a corner OF because they don't have a ready made replacement as things currently stand.

Interesting to see Escobar in RF, albeit only briefly tonight.

So at the risk of ridicule, much like the stuff I dished to Ciske a couple years ago, I say this: I am done with the Brewers this year. Getting swept by this bad, at home, to a mediocre Giants team? Unacceptable. Until they fire Macha, I am done with this team. Look, before you lambaste me, I have know baseball. I know that the manager is not out there throwing, hitting, fielding or baserunning. But somethings gotta give. Either fire the whole team, or fire Macha. I am going to three more games this year only because I have tickets purchased already. I mean, this team didn't even SHOW UP this series. I am beyond frustrated at this point, and this is coming from the guy who stood behind Ned Yost longer than anyone should have. Eff this. I'm done. It's time for college football. GO BADGERS!

The Brewers will be installing the 3rd largest video display in MLB during the offseason. Daktronics of Brookings, SD will be manufacturing the display.

I don't blame you one bit. The team has shown little, if any, signs of life this year. The pitching staff gives up runs early and often, Braun's been MIA for it seems like forever, none of the offseason moves have paid off (Wolf, Hawkins, Davis, Zaun), etc. I'll watch when I get tired of the neverending quest to empty the DVR up until the point the game is no longer competitive. I've been to two games this year and I think we have tix for 1 more. Beyond that, they'll have to show a pulse to warrant my attention. :(

Geoff Jenkins will retire as a Brewer today, and is throwing out the first pitch tonight. Hope they show it on TV.

You know, I was talking to my dad about this last night. Macha has not impressed me at all. I don't know what his deal is but he lost me when he failed to protect Dave Bush at Target Field. It appears there is a reason that he didn't live up to expectations in Oakland. Melvin is certainly not free of blame because none of the moves made this offseason have panned out at all. Even Gomez for Hardy doesn't seem to be helping with Escobar and Gomez struggling. I stopped watching the Brewers when my slingbox stopped working but I have little motivation to fix that problem as long as they keep playing like they have this season.

Well, I am shocked your at this level of disgust, considering your prior posts from previous seasons, but I don't disagree at all.

I really thought the Crew was turning the corner, doing so well in the 3 series prior to the St. Louis series, and even splitting with the Cards was ok from a record standpoint. There were within 7 games of first. But this series was just a nut crusher. Everything is falling apart; D, O, Pitching. To me, the wheels are off, let's ditch Macha. There's no real reason to keep him around. They really haven't done anything with him. Give Sveum or Randolph the riens and see what happens.

Braun...He's into too much off the field stuff, fashion and restaraunteering, someone needs to sit him down and tell him to shut that crap off until November and concentrate on BB. He and Hart have switched bodies I think.

Narveson...I read he knows he gets in trouble when he throws too many f-balls. So the other night he gets rocked, throwing too many f-balls. Macha said Lucroy called too many f-balls because Narveson was shaking off the other signals anyway. ***? He knows he gets in trouble when he throws too many fastballs, but he decides to do it anyway? They need to get some coaches in there who will tell guys like Parra and Narveson that they will follow the plan or they will be pitching in Nashville and not Milwaukee.

Escobar...is getting worse, not better. He's mega talented, what's holding him back?

I think the Crew needs to trade for Ozzie Guillen.

If it doesn't get turned on to land near the Dew Deck they may extend his contract thru the rest of the season and put him in the bullpen.

They might as well dump Macha to see what they have in Randolph. He's an AL manager who the players just plain aren't responding to. Do I think he's the entire problem? No way, but I don't see him as the solution if some good moves are made to set them up better for 2011 and beyond. NL managing takes more feel and creativity and he just doesn't have it.

Based on the teams he had in Oakland I think he's a very overrated manager.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

The Pirates are (more often than not) good for a pick-me-up.

Rumor has it, there was a Ryan Braun sighting as well! :)

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

I realize for the long term it might be better for them to lose some more so they make some trades and dump Macha, but I still can't root for them to lose and be indifferent towards watching them. It was great to see the bullpen hold up and they showed some heart scoring in each of the last 3 innings.

Braun needed that really bad. He needs to realize pitchers have figured out he'll be overaggressive especially late in games. Confidence and thinking you can hit anything is great, but getting yourself out on pitches a foot out of the strike zone like he has done more and more this season just needs to stop.

I think Corey Hart is all warmed up for the Home Run Derby tonight. :)

He'll also be starting in the ASG with Braun.
