2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

The correct answer is: Neither. Wisconsin Football is what you are most excited for.

Anytime UW football is highly regarded at the start of a season, they end up underperforming bigtime. I'm excited, but excited like I'm sitting on a time bomb and not sure if it's a dud or not.

I'm way more excited about the Pack. It's the Superbowl or bust.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming....
I think Prince will be a Brewer until this time next year.

Show Ricky the money!

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

It seems to me that the Brewers have a much more difficult time getting a runner in from third with 1 or no outs than other teams I watch. When I watch teams on tv...it seems almost a given that if they have a runner on third with no outs and 60/40 with 1 out, that runner scores. The brewers can't seem to get that run in if their paychecks depended on it. Tonight bottom of the 1st bases loaded, 1 out...Inglett strikes out swinging on like 4 pitches. I realized i've never played pro baseball, but other teams don't seem to have this much trouble doing that.

I agree - this winter. I don't see anyone offering the Brewers what they need right now, and I don't think they're going to wait until they can only rent him out for a few months next July. I bet somebody will be ready to make a move for him over the winter, after this season plays out and people get impatient with their results.

edit: unless he signs a deal with the Brewers before that, of course. ;)

Not with Scott Boras as his agent.

The Shirtless one is right. He's gone this offseason. Sorry. Think of it this way. It's better than giving him huge bucks, then watching his body break down in 3-4 years and having him **** near bankrupt the franchise in the process.

I wish we could sign him to 4 years $100 mil if he would take it...I could deal with that because we would have him for through the good years but he all know he wants more. As much as I love watching him play and know he will kick as for the next 3 or 4 years, we can't throw the 6-8 year contract at 20+ mil that he wants.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

I don't pay him $25 for 4 years. You're asking for trouble.

With his body structure, when he goes, he's going to go quick, and he's probably going to go early. Look at his daddy's career trajectory. I agree that the bidding is going to start at 6 for $120. There's no way in hell I want to be writing the check for that contract in 2017. I wouldn't offer more than 3 years unless the additional years are club options.

Stand back, because someone's gonna get suckered here. Trade him, get some solid arms, and move on.

I guarantee they will score a run before leaving Houston this weekend.

That trade deadline was sure anti-climactic. I think many of us hoped they could get some young high end arms. It probably was the right thing to do not to trade just to trade. Sellers were getting fifty cents on the dollar it seems when you really look at some of these deals. This season is obviously long gone, but I almost wonder if they shouldn't have looked to buy if they liked anyone available who had at least another year on his deal. I would have gladly built a deal around Gamel.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

In thinking about the trade deadline more, I could see Hawkins, Hoffman, or Edmunds being dealt in August. They'd clear waivers and someone might really be desperate for a veteran.

Nooooooooooooooooo!
I hope I'm wrong, but the guy is way too inconsistant. Unless maybe it will be a sign and trade in the offseason thing.
You know I might agree with you but I remember reading about a year ago that Corey Hart according to ESPN was a top 25 guy to have over the next 5 years. Maybe he is finally getting it. Hopefully he's figured things out and can keep it going.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

I'd say I like the Hart signing but I'm not sure I love it. There are also grumblings about a Weeks extension not being too far off. It would be putting a lot of faith in a couple of guys from the core group who came up together who haven't been consistent. In tying up some money it also further shows they won't re-sign the most consistent guy out of that core who came up together, although they gladly would if the price was even somewhat palatable.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Let's hope Hart IS finally getting it and Weeks can stay healthy fpr the next few years after he gets his extension. I used to rag on Weeks, but he's finally proving when healthy, he's a stud.

So why did Macha send out the Ax last night? I don't get it, but I'm not a baseball nuance guy either.

Because he hadn't pitched since 7/26 against the Reds. It's nice to get closers some work if they haven't been out there in a while. That, or maybe he was thinking about having Axford put one through a hitter's helmet.
