2010 DII Football

Re: 2010 DII Football

Also, for those interested, Sunday at 3 PM ESPNEWS will be announcing the playoff seedings. Not sure if I'll be around much this saturday and sunday morning to make much sense of anything. All I know is that Super Region 2, the Southeast is really screwed up at the moment because Valdosta State lost last night.

Re: 2010 DII Football

Tomorrows games.

Wayne State (Mich.) (20) @
Findlay
- Even with a win here, Wayne State is most likely on the outside looking in come 3 pm Sunday. They would need a lot of help to make the playoffs, but they would capture the South GLIAC Champs title, so thats a nice banner to put up for them, and gives them something to focus on for next year.

Bloomsburg (11) @
Mercyhurst (17)
- The PSAC Title game, Best of the East versus the best of the West. Game will affect on who will get a home game in the Northeast region, and who will have a road game.

Ferris State @
Northwood
- Last chance for Ferris to beat a team with a winning record this year.

Merrimack @
Pace
- Last game in a year that most of Pace would like to forget, or to have never have happen.

American International @
Assumption
- Eh, I've got nothing.

Stonehill @
Bentley
- Ditto.

Northern Michigan @
Michigan Tech (24)
- The Miner Cup. Both squads are a little banged up, with NMU missing their QB and MTU's RB being questionable for this game. Tech needs a win here to keep their playoff hopes alive. Ruining those hopes would be the perfect end of the season for the Wildcats. And Mother Nature looks like she's going to be bringing a mixed bag of rain and snow, so layer up, bring a raincoat or garbage bag, and remember to fortify one self properly. ;)

Saint Anselm @
Southern Connecticut
- Saint Anselm ruinned the NE-10's chances of putting a team into the playoffs, but I doubt they'll be able to sneak up on the Owls this weekend.

Minnesota-Crookston @
Bemidji State
- Likely a win here for the Beavers. Might not be the last game of the year for the Beavers, as they are in the running for the Mineral Water Bowl. That mostly depends on St. Cloud making the playoffs though.

Nebraska-Kearney (8) @
Colorado Mines (25)
- Winner is most likely in the playoffs in the Northwest.

Minnesota-Duluth (1) @
Minnesota State
- Simple enough here for the Bulldogs. Win, and they're the number one seed in the Northwest region, and if things go that far, would be the likely host of the Southwest regional winner in Duluth. Given that all of the teams in the SW are from either Missouri or Texas, I would like my odds in Duluth in December.

Nebraska-Omaha @
Truman State
- Berhns here most likely really needs a win here to cool off his seat here. Lots of grumblings out of Omaha about him.

St. Cloud (18) @
MSU Moorhead
- A win here and they're most likely in the playoffs. Would most likely have to travel, but eh, its better than what a lot of other teams would be doing next week. A win here and making the playoffs would really look good for the upcoming vote on raising student fees for athletics next week at St. Cloud.

Simon Fraser @
Humboldt State
- Well, one last chance for the Clan to get a win South of the Border. It would give a little more promise to a pretty rough start for the Clan in the NCAA's, and help that young team of guys stick together and build something there on the West Coast of Canuckistan.

Re: 2010 DII Football

The weather is making the Tech/NMU game a failfest, particularly when it comes to kicking.

Still 6-0 Tech at the half.

Re: 2010 DII Football

Tech survives the Snow Bowl 12-0.

Tiffin fell to Hillsdale, and St. Cloud is currently whomping Moorhead. Tech cannot have nice things. Ever.

Re: 2010 DII Football

The University of Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota State University;,: Mankato game has been re-scheduled for 10 AM Sunday, November 14, in Marshall, MN, at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Re: 2010 DII Football

The retards in Mankato were shocked that a snow storm came and were completely unprepared. The field became covered in six inches of snow that could not be removed without the field being destroyed.

What kind of Mickey Mouse Operation are they running there in Mankato?? Plow or shovel out the lines and call it good. If I'm Mankato, I would think that would give me a 50/50 shot at beating the Bulldogs. And they're going to reschedule the game for the next morning?? Hell, the NCAA didn't let Tech and GVSU do it back 05 when we had that lightning storm. BS!!!

Re: 2010 DII Football

35-14 UMD

Mankato has just self-destructed in the second half here.

11:48 left in the game.

Re: 2010 DII Football

No Tech in the playoff field. Will be curious to see if Colorado Mines, which got the six seed, actually passed Tech or if they got in via earned access, which would give us a nice little straw man to beat on in Houghton for a while.

Also, Kearly has said that it was the first time in over a decade that a two-loss GLIAC team failed to get in. Can someone better versed in the process than I explain why that is? Basically, more depth in the NSIC?

Well, tech and Wayne both only had two losses. There was just a lot of teams all up there that could have all been in this year in the region.

So can we go **** and moan over at D2F for nine months now?

ETA: LOL. They pull a GPL and shut down the board the day the rankings are announced.

D2F will be back up shortly. They just didn't want people crashing the board.

The NSIC had an undefeated, a one loss, and a two loss team.
The GLIAC only had one oneloss team, and a slew of others that had two losses. Plus, with the only matchup between the two leagues, NMU @ Mankato, it went to Mankato.

Tech really could have helped it's case out if they had a good non-con game.

Re: 2010 DII Football

I remember asking Tech's athletic director why they only play 10 games and she claimed that losing it can hurt you more than winning it helps you. Wonder if she thinks that now.

See the problem here is you talked to a woman about football. It doesn't matter if she's the athletic director, she still doesn't know what she is talking about.

I would think it's more likely that you're going to have a hard time getting someone to agree to a home-and-home. Houghton isn't exactly a short and easy trip for anyone except Northern. I think we got the games with Winona State primarily because Coach Kearly is an alum.

Suzanne simply has other things to worry about. The team had a good year, and came up just shy of a bid. The bottom line is that if we didn't have that clunker of a loss against Saggy, we'd be in.
