2010-11 Schedules

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

That is the weekend BC has left for one OOC game, barring an unforseen change involving UMass the only other team they are waiting for a schedule. Rumors have BC going to South Bend.

That rumor may have been started by me. ;) :o :D It was by process of elimination that I determined that they were open for that weekend also, thus making them a likely opponent.

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

Hearing BC at Notre Dame that Friday night Oct. 22.

I had heard from the BC ticket office that the Notre Dame series was off this year. Apparently GDF said if you don't want to play us in football, we aren't going to play you in hockey.. Its possible that all has changed now that BC and ND have signed on for a football extension...

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

Is AIC that bad, no one wants to play them?

I think that it is difficult for AHA teams to get OOC games onto their schedules because those other teams have little to gain and everything to lose in the PWR. For example, Bentley's upset win over #8 ranked UMass-Amherst in the middle of last season pretty much sent the Minutemen into a downturn from which they did not recover. Ironically, the same upset win was also the beginning of a downward spiral for the Falcons that ended with them getting knocked out of the AHA post-season quarters.

It's a seller's market for non-con games in the world of Division I. With the end of the CHA, there is only half of a conference that has any significant number of non-conference games to play with, and that's the non-Ivy ECAC (Clarkson, SLU, RPI, Union, Colgate and Quinnipiac). Everyone else either has six or seven dates to play with, and in practical terms, many teams have fewer, since they are committed to hosting or playing in in-season tournaments or non-con rivalry games.

Non-conference games also mean a great deal in terms of your eventual seeding and positioning when it comes to potential at-large bids to the NCAAs. Pragmatically speaking, you want to get the most value you can out of those games. Everyone wants the best teams they can for those slots.

Under those considerations, AIC's value as a seller is very low.

Michigan State:

That's it. That gives us our complete CCHA schedule*.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AqLVgU9sRTcVdGNMcUxIeUlKcFcwMjg3OVBpVFZ5WUE&hl=en

*A pair of non-conference games for Notre Dame are missing, and two weekends between Notre Dame and WMU are yet to be filled in, but there are only two open weekends to play 'em.

Most likely:
Rumored Non-Con for ND and BC October 22nd and 23rd.
Home/Home? for WMU and ND October 29th and 30th.
Home/Home? for WMU and ND February 25th and 26th.

Some of that was my error in posting here. I had it right on ND's thread... BC here 10/23 and Canisius here 12/29. The October WMU series is home and away. The February one is away and home

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

Continuing on the AIC schedule.

How does it work for getting Canadian College teams to come to the US for games? Does the US College pay the Canadian team for travel?

I'd like to see AIC schedule either the US junior team or a Canadian College to come down to fill in the 1 game in 3 weeks void.

I'm not sure about the Canadian teams but I believe it costs to bring the US Junior team in for a game.

The Swedish Junior team is in town one of those open weeks around November 13. They play Merrimack, BU and Williams. They are listed on the Swedish website to play UMass on 11/13 but UMass is playing UNH that day. Perhaps AIC should try to get that on their schedule as the Swedes are in nearby Williamstown the day before. If I were in the AIC administration I would check that out with UMass right away. Anyone from AIC to do that here?
