2010-11 Schedules

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

What the heck is up with the Sun-Mon "weekend" series in January vs the Q and AIC?

Canisius does not have their own rink. They use Buffalo State's, so they have to compete with Buff State's D3 men and womens teams for ice. I would say they weren't able to get ice on friday or saturday. RIT has had Thursday and Sunday series with Canisius in the past. If you look at Canisius's schedule, they have a bunch of "home" games on not Friday or Saturday, and that is why.

Have they looked into getting a small on campus rink?

I have no idea...from what I hear, they don't get a large crowd for games (which may be due to the off campus location). I have been to 3 games against RIT and 1 against AIC at Buffalo State. The RIT games have had a crowd of maybe 100 Canisus fans. The AIC game had maybe 15. I am not sure if they have looked into it, or why they don't have one.

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

C-block sucks! LOL.

Buff Stattes rink is also better than the Pepsi Center in Amherest that they sometimes use. That place is worse than some DIII rinks I have been to.

Re: 2010-11 Schedules

I can understand being second fiddle to Buff State, but why not play Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 3 or 7pm(3pm to help the other team get home) I think Canisius saw the grades the AIC players have and want them to miss some school. :D

The Quinnipiac series is actually not too bad as Monday is MLK,Jr Day a Federal holiday. As for AIC perhaps attedance could be better on a Monday since they don't expect more than 200 anyway.

3rd fiddle actually...Buff State has mens and womens teams. The women may play at 2 on saturday home games.

Air Force schedule:

As a side note, it looks like the AHA went with an East (Bentley, Holy Cross, AIC, UConn, Sacred Heart, Army) and West (RIT, Canisius, Niagara, Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, Air Force) split, with teams playing those in their "division" 3 times and the other division twice. Not the easiest for travel, especially in the west, and slightly unbalanced as well.

I find it interesting that AF only has 4 non conference games not counting the Kendall Classic (which I believe don't count towards the 7 OOC games allowed)...

CC/DU, the Alaskas and Yale/Clarkson, and only Yale and CC at home.

I don't think we could handle any more! That's probably one of the most competitive non-cons in the country. Three tournament teams from last year, a crosstown rival and perennial power, and another WCHA team on their ice.
