Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Hee.

Sam Rosen: Two Wisconsin Badgers on the ice, Derek Stepan [of the Rangers] and Steven Reinprecht [of the Panthers].
[Former Minnesota Gopher] Joe Micheletti: Sam, nobody cares about the Wisconsin Badgers.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Holy crap do the Devils suck this season. :(

The whole team except Kovy (when he doesn't have 2 or 3 guys checking him) and Tedenby look like their 100 years old.

As much as I don't like the Devs, I do kind of feel fro Marty. I know he's catching a ration of crap, but it's not all on him. His D is pathetic and the O is punchless.

Dude's got three Stanley Cups and he backstopped a team that almost ruined hockey. Screw him.

Columbus unveils its third jersey for the team's 10th anniversary;

Sick threads. I like the teams that have gone to this style of jersey. They normally turn out pretty well. Florida, Columbus, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Minnesota all have this style jersey now.

That's just awesome.

CBC reports around 1500 people attended Pat Burns' funeral today in Montreal.

The importance of hockey and Burns's courage in fighting cancer in his final years highlighted the sermon of Msgr. Robert Sansoucy, a priest at the cathedral. The importance of hockey was further enforced by the urn containing the former coach's remains, which was in the shape of a Stanley Cup.

Putting it to the masses for a vote. My little brother is going to get me a jersey and I have my choice. I've narrowed it down to a couple of my favorite Rangers netminders. Should I go with Lundqvist or Mike Richter? Thanks.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Huh? Sorry, I was distracted by the shiny rings and trophies my team has. I don't have time for jealousy felt by the masses.
Enjoy them while you can, because it's only a matter of time before Scott Stevens comes and elbows you in the head and you get a concussion and forget what we were talking about. Not for any particular reason, but just because that's what he did, is elbow people in the head for no particular reason.

Richter.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Addendum: Richter, if he can find a jersey that's the style they wore when Richter played. (Ideally from the mid-'90s with CCM patches.) If he's buying the current jersey (e.g. with the current style lace-up collar with the NHL logo at the collar), and *especially* if it's got the 85th anniversary patch that's specific to this season, it should be Lundqvist. (Lack of attention to historical accuracy on replica jerseys is one of my personal pet peeves, and you may not share it, but you asked for opinions so...)

Edit to add: Rangers jerseys at NHLUniforms.com, if you want to check them out.

I have a Lady Liberty 3rd jersey and a 50's replica Blue, but I want to get another, I'm thinking about getting an 85th anniversary jersey, they are badarse.

It's not quite a pet peeve, but I do notice details like this too. Small details can be overlooked (ie: the guy never wore a third jersey but was on the team the whole year when they did), but wearing an old school player on a new RBK is awful.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Thanks for the input. The 85th anniversary jersey looks amazing. I do agree with you about accuracy, jmh. I would love the Lundqvist in the 85th anniversary jersey or Ricther in a '94 style jersey.

I agree the 85th anniversary jerseys are sick. I'd love a Gaborik or Dubinsky of it. I have a Lady Liberty blank, Gretzky CCM, and Drury current style.

I just blew a crap load of $$$ on a new Tyler Ennis Sabres third for my g/f. I may just keep the jersey for myself because Buffalo's thirds are sick too. :)

Which ones are their thirds? The royal blue with "Buffalo" in cursive script?
