I said "one of". Redden is also "one of". Both are miserable, miserable contracts. I guess the fact that Gomez is actually in the NHL dulls that sting a little though.

A holiday get-together in Toronto, although Thanksgiving in Canada was last month! :D

Wednesday's tilt between the Marlies and Griffins saw 204 penalty minutes, including 14 fighting majors in the third period alone.

It's pretty ridiculous that the NHL will bend over backwards for Fat Martha when he dives or whines about something, but if you're not someone they've decided gets special treatment then you can be interfered with with impunity.

Vancouver's Rick Rypien is taking some time off.

The Vancouver Canucks announced on Thursday that forward Rick Rypien has been granted an indefinite leave of absence to attend to personal matters.

Rypien, 26, has played all 119 career games with the Canucks but found himself in hot water with the NHL early this season.

He was suspended for six games after grabbing a fan near the Vancouver bench during an Oct. 19 game against the Minnesota Wild.

Rypien apologized for the incident soon after and pledged to behave more professionally.

"It's a real eye-opener for me, so I think I'm going to come back real strong and better than ever," he said after the suspension was handed down. "I think I'm going to be more focused and more determined to play the game that I love the most."

In nine games this season, he has one assist and 31 penalty minutes.

Holy crap do the Devils suck this season. :(

The whole team except Kovy (when he doesn't have 2 or 3 guys checking him) and Tedenby look like their 100 years old.
