2009 Boston Red Sox

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

Are the Red Sox completely oblivious to how horrible Josh Beckett is right now or what? Are they doing anything in between starts about this?

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

I'm not sure which is more frustrating - the fact that after tying the game at 5, the Red Sox pitchers give up 3 runs in the span of 3 hitters, or that they had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, and Gonzalez and Ellsbury take weak-*ed swings at crappy-* pitches. I think the former just feeds off the latter.

The two are tied.

Any chance to finally beat the Llama that gets **** up like this is inordinately frustrating. Especially given the utter uselessness of Baltimore and Toronto.

Hey, at least we got a little help from the home plate ump. And possibly the 3rd base ump, though they never showed a replay of that play.

Zahn was definitely safe.

They more than made up for it by calling Youk out.

I blame Lowell. If for no other reason than to irritate my wife.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

Ah, so that's what a successful series in St Petersburg looks like. It's been a while.

And that's good because neither Texas nor the BePinstriped Ones ever lose a game. Apparently.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

They will. They can't play the Jays/Orioles for the rest of the season.

I wouldn't put it past them.

****ing Parise, why is it that the Orioles get the play the Rays, BePinstriped Ones and Rangers back to back to back? How this remotely ****ing possible? I'm shocked that they haven't figured a way to export the Pirates into this race...

Well, the Yankees/Rays series makes some sense - they're going to play the AL East a bunch, so it's to be expected that they have a couple of series like that. As for the Rangers, it's not like they were predicted to be in this position. Most years, that would be just another late-season AAA showcase series.

Plus, it sort of balances out. The Sox finish the season with 10 of 13 games against the Royals, O's, and Jays.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

The schedule is what it is. There's no excuse for the Sox not making the playoffs now. None at all. They've got more talent than the two teams chasing them. At this point, the lone concern is Beckett righting himself. Buchholz seems to be nailing down the #3 spot and the hitting is there again. Not making the post season now would be an epic choke job IMHO.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

Nice come back after the last two games. Plus, the Rays, BePinstriped Ones and MOST IMPORTANTLY the Rangers all lose.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

The offense needs to not suck when the pitching is there.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

OK, so Boston.com updated the site and now says the game starts anew on Sunday. Whew. Because that game was not shaping up to be a pleasant one.
