2009 Boston Red Sox

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

That was the lineup today on MLB Network, except they expect the Sox to move Lowell after surgery. They also switched Youk and Martinez.

I completely forgot about Hermida.

I guess he goes into spring training as a bench player. They're probably looking at him as their #1 internal insurance option if any of the outfielders get injured (likelihood = 100% since one of them is named JD Drew) or if Ortiz regresses again...

Re: Matsuzaka

I rarely say this, but he needs to listen to his agent. He'll never get the deal he signed with BOS. But if he wants any kind of 2nd MLB contract, he needs to stop screwing around and get focused.

Papelbon, Ramon Ramirez, and Manny Delcarmen all reached deals with the Red Sox today. With Okajima signing several days ago, the late inning bullpen seems set.

And don't forget Daniel Bard. He had his coming out party in the 2009 playoffs, just like Paps did in 2005.

This could be one scary (scary good) bullpen. Coupled with our expected good-excellent starters, maybe we will be the 1960's Dodgers.

Re: 2009 Boston Red Sox

Was that new Ramon Ramirez or the Ramon Ramirez they had last year? (They have two Ramon Ramirezeszez right?)

Pitching and defensively, they are going to be great, I'm actually more optimistic about the team than I was a month ago... maybe because football season is over, and the other local teams are playing poorly...

pitchers and catchers in a month or so (?)

great system for buying tickets...sit in a virtual waiting room and wait for a random selection every 15 seconds to buy tickets...great if you have nothing to do

Yeah, as much as I dislike TM's fees, at least you know if you stand a chance of getting tickets through them based on how long you have to wait in line.

i don't even bother anymore... haven't bought tickets to fenway for three years.

of course that hasn't hurt them, so why should they care.:(

"TICKETS REMAIN FOR MANY 2010 GAMES

Red Sox fans once again showed their dedication yesterday as tickets went on sale for the majority of the season. Although sales continue to be strong, we want you to know that it is not too late - tickets are still available for most games throughout the season."

uh yeah, $20 SRO tickets :p (plus that $4.50 service chg)

--just what a guy needs with 4 kids.

Adrian Gonzalez's agent has went public and said that the Padres "Can not afford to keep him." Welcome back to the trade rumors.

Personally, Id purpose Beltre, pay 2/3 of his 9M salary, Bowden, Lars Anderson, and maybe Lowrie for Gonzalez.

Actually it was the Padre's CEO who basically said that the early signals are that the cost to keep him will be greater than their ability to pay him.

Don't expect a deal before the season, look more towards the trade deadline for him to be moved.
