2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

At first it was fun seeing the team not give up and fight to the end of the 60 minutes, always making a game of it by the buzzer.

Now it is just annoying. Show up in the first two periods, please.

Geez...you are never satisfied ;)

What next...they actually have to WIN the games? :p

This town...I tell ya :D

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

I thought Earl was playing ok...Sykora has done nothing which makes me sad I always liked him.

They said in the telecast Burns should start skating with the team.

I have come to the opinion, and I know it might not be popular, but it is time to cut ties with PMB. This predates his injury but the fact that a concussion has kept him out this long makes me think his best days are behind him. Problem is he has zero trade value right now so we are stuck with him.

I would agree with this. But I have a caveat - I'd like to see his skills and performance in the new style the Wild is playing, post Lemaire. I'm not 100% sure we've really been able to judge his true talent yet. Hopefully we can see something this year still that tells us we've had a diamond in the rough all along, or cut him loose and move on.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

I think he has the talent, but fact is if a concussion can keep him out this long the next one might just end his career. I trust in the new regime to find a player that can equal his value.

The same can be said about Burns though too, unfortunately.

Its a good thing that severe head contact warrants stiff penalties like the one the handed out to Gonch...oh wait!

I thought it was a good, clean hockey hit with the shoulder?

I'm all confused now, thanks CC...

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

The word of the year for this Minnesota Wild team is: bipolar.

Not to minimize anyone that have friends and/or family with the actual disease, because it is a brutal, brutal illness.

However, I can't think of any one word that better describes what this team is doing this year.

The entire 1st period is crap, but hold Detroit to 1. Then, the 2nd is great, but they only get 1 goal. The 3rd had been attrotcious giving up 2 until about 8:00 left and now its tied with 2:00 to go

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

 The Wild actually get the first goal, never fall behind and end up playing 60 minutes of solid NHL hockey tonight! Against the Red Wings no less

Carefull, Minnesota, I could get used to this ;) :)

No kidding. A wire-to-wire victory. Kind of boring.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Does anyone else see Brent Burns as a guy that could be traded, possibly in the offseason? The Wild played some pretty good hockey without him, and with the potential for more concussion problems, would the Wild pull the trigger if they got a decent offer?

If the Wild were major sellers this year (and it's starting to look like they might not be...) I might consider it if the right offer came up, but since we're still in the hunt, I'd rather keep him around.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

If you thought you were, you probably were. :p

No sadly I was sober :(

And if the right offer comes around Burns should be available but I wonder what kind of offers they could get and what the team would want. For a guy like him I would prefer established players over draft picks because he is a very good defensemen now and he is young.
