I figured you'd be smart enough to figure this out, but no, not everyone is in within striking distance. The perception is there, but with points welfare, it's impossible to make up a lot of ground and jump ahead of teams since they get it too. It's one of the reasons that if you take the final records and adjust them to what you want to see for points, there's very, very little change between the playoff teams. It's not like the 6 seed would be a 10 seed if you changed it, might it happen, sure. Probably the 8/9 spot would change the most and there'd be a bit of jockeying in the middle, but you know what else can change the 8/9 spot...having the 9th place team win one more game over the course of 82 games!
