118th Congress - Neutered Dog Attempts to Legislate

How are Politico and the NYT going to frame this as bad for Biden and the Democrats this time?

McCarthy is telling everyone with a microphone that "Every Democrat and 8 Republicans voted to shut this all down". Even the Faux reporter talking to him called BS on that.

The GOP so badly wants the Dems to bail them out and they are just not going to get it.

If every state had the system we use in Alaska, jungle primary, top 4 general election with RCV, I could maybe see this country moving towards a coalition system. But, primary elections exist and they’re a huge reason why we have this mess.

Gerrrymandering is the vast majority of the other reasons why.

Money.

The rich can bribe pols. See, here's your problem, right here.

No. The Democratic caucus is voting unanimously, straight down the line, every time.

This is a problem with the Right, full stop. You have been coddling Nazis and criminals, pretending they are normal, protecting them, egging them on, for you own short term gain. And, LOL, now the leopard has turned on you.

This is neither a systemic issue nor an evolution of American democracy. It's the result of a 40-year failure of ethics and intellect by conservatives.

You played yourself.

It will definitely happen.

Heck, in Minneapolis we're already seeing it within the Democratic party. You've got traditional Democrats, and then you have Democratic Socialists of America, who are already going out and challenging traditional Democrats as well as Republicans, and making some headway in what is a pretty liberal environment.

You guys can sit here and say "no, no, no" all you want. I don't care. It's happened every other place on the planet where the human species resides, so it's going to happen here. In fact, it has happened here. It's just that the political apparatus in place has, generally speaking, been able to suppress the fracturing of parties. But as differences become more entrenched in what we've known as the major parties, those suppression efforts will slowly fade.

Ken Buck is saying he won't vote for an election denier on CNN. Not a good sign for Gym if Buck has friends...

Yeah, I saw that several dfl members have “left” the party until after November election due to the socialists who won’t walk back the Israel Palestine stuff. Kind of ugly although I don’t see it affecting anything now- there’s no substantial local elections this month to my knowledge

This can't work, as the point of the speaker vote is to demonstrate at least notionally a leader who can command a majority on an actual vote later. You have to have the juice to forge a coalition, not just have the largest of many blocs.

The fact that we’re about to start week #3 without a speaker shows that Jefferues has a bigger coalition than any republican. They had their bite at the apple and proved to be unworthy of governance. Time to move on.

Yeah and they all vote DFL when push comes to shove. Stop.

Don Bacon is setting himself up to be the most spineless republican since Ted Cruz. He's saying that his wife has been receiving threats on her personal cell phone regarding his opposition to Jordan.

He'll cave. They all do.

Thought the big tough US didn't negotiate with terrorists?

Just another on a long line of examples of the big tough Republican manly talk is just that. Talk.

They're all just a big bunch of puzzies. Gutless. Afraid of everything.

This game makes me wonder what kind of backroom deals the Freedumbs are trying to make to get their votes behind Gym (or whomever).
