DU's home schedule is going to be better in the NCHC and the league schedule will be fair. For the first time in decades, every school will play an equal number of games against every league opponent.

True true, and I am just as excited about that. I still might stomach the unevenness and the dull games against (we won't name names) to keep the Gophers and Badgers, though. But I'm also a tad biased - I have a long attachment to Wisconsin, and my father was a Minnesota alum.

Well, not playing Denver, UND, UMD and all of the other teams that are bolting might HELP Tech get back on it's feet. The gauntlet known as the WCHA schedule as it is wil lbe MUCH easier now.

We are actually HELPING Tech

And conference games against Northern Michigan and LSSU. They can build some serious Yooper rivalries.

But that argument has been tried here before, and they don't like it. They want the Soo back, plain and simple. We cut off the welfare checks, and they don't like it (that's right UND - you are the welfare). And Duluth too, I suppose.

I won't argue the first point there and I hope to see Tech on top of the new WCHA in a few years... But it just won't be the same revenge factor after all these years . I do honestly look forward to having all the UP teams in one league. That in itself is a good thing...

And we don't want your help . As a life long Tech fan I look forward to seeing a new doormat show itself in NCHC and look forward to seeing their fans **** and moan

Do you think the tournament being in Colorado every other year will produce the same welfare?

That doesn't really bother me. It'll be nice to move it around some.

Besides, revenue on 15,000 full seats divided by 12 teams works out the same as 10,000 folks divided by 8 teams. Shouldn't be too hard to muster that many folks to the Pepsi Center. And the economic benefits won't always go to the Twin Cities.

Also, Denver is a perfect City to host events like this. Pepsi Center is a good venue, there is always stuff to do in between games...the weather is hit or miss...but normally it is getting warmer at that time of year.

Locals would probably still go to the F5 had DU/UND stayed, and thereby keeping the F5 at the X. I cannot see anywhere EXCEPT maybe the Ralph drawing those numbers. And I am not sold that GF could produce those numbers.

And as for doomsday speculation, UAH folded already. And I predict they are the first of a few.

I mean drawing full capacity for most games.

And that's one game. Between long-time rivals. I don't think it's sustainable for a whole tourney, much less for a few years.

I see what point you're making but that was local teams. I think the question Brent is asking is if we can draw that amount for say...UND/UMD and Miami vs. UNO??? I am not sure if we could. I know we did well with the Regionals and the F4...I would hope that translates to the Conference.

I think rotating between Cities is still the best option as it gives all fan bases a chance to have the tourney in their own back yard.

Personally I would have preferred the WCHA to be like it used to be before the Michigan schools and Notre Dame bolted for the '81/82 season.

Minnesota
Minnesota Duluth
Denver
Colorado College

That by far is the strongest league ever assembled. All but one of the ten schools have won national titles with Notre Dame being the only exception. Had the Michigan schools and ND not left, the whole hockey landscape would be different today. With them leaving for the CCHA in 1981/82, the best league ever was destroyed and everything that has happened since is a result of that move. Ohio State and Penn State could have been easily added in the future to keep the B1G schools together.

Well, of course not. However, I've been to many F5's and I've seen the play-in game have around 5,000 (in an 18,000 seat arena) if the Gophers weren't playing.
