10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

Re: 10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

1st -- Why was the Denver goal disallowed in the 2nd period (It was waved off immediately)?? I saw the replay numerous times and the DU player was out of the crease, didn't touch the goaltender, and the puck went clearly off his stick(at least from what I saw).
It looked good to me too, but the explanation upon review was that it was kicked in.

It was kicked in, and I did not even see it.

Re: 10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

Dirk thought the waived off goal went off the stick and off the skate and there was a kicking motion, it was pretty quick if it happened.

2nd -- what was Gwoz thinking leaving the net empty after giving up the first empty-netter??? My best guess is that it was a psychological game to make the kids mad and more focused for sat. night. It felt like he was sending the message to his guys that if you are gonna embarrass me by getting beat by MTU 4-1, I'm gonna embarrass you by not putting the goalie back in.

It seems like a psychological game to show Gwoz's displeasure in his teams plays. In the score updates thread a DU poster said he's seen this before from Gwoz, but the last time was in 98.

You could see it on the video pretty clearly that it went off his skate... now whether it was a "kicking" motion, I'm not sure, it just looked to me like it was just a continuation of his skating motion, but I'm not going to complain too hard :)

I'm still confused about why he would throw the game too. That has to be the absolute stupidest thing I've ever seen any coach do in any game, at any level, in my life. Name a worse decision, ever. I can't believe they pay this guy a salary.

I LOVE YOU TECH! PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG!! DU (or is it Metro State?) is over..... rated, and Mich Tech is under..... rated. Bring it again Saturday Tech!!

Come on 'Tig. The Metro State schtick is 4 months old. Been solved. Ya need new material bro. And I don't think you loved Tech too much a few years ago when they swept your arse down to Pueblo out of your building in the WCHA playoffs. So, talk to Abe, who will say, "SUCK IT."

Let me clue you in here bro. Your STUPID statement about THROWING the game when DU is down 4-1 and just took yet another penalty, is, well, STUPID. This problem with our team has been going on for a number of weeks now. He's used other methods, even calling a timeout up 7-0 last Saturday, when the team was exhibiting the same behavior. You are so far removed from our program and consequently don't have a clue of what's going on, that your comments come out as STUPID. Perhaps if you go do a bit of learning and repost, I'll give your comments the time of day. Until then, ****.

I'd like to just go on record and say... I like the Eagles.

Hopefully that clears up any confusion. Thanks.

hee hee.
I think he might have thrown tomorrow's game, too. Maybe the season. I've never seen a team so beaten down and demoralized by their own coach.
Your "coach" is pathetic. That's all.
It'll be interesting to see if they're running scared tomorrow, or have given up altogether. One thing, there are now a lot of young players who are hating their decision to play in Denver.

LOL. Your fn team is pathetic on a year by year basis. So there is that.

Re: 10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

Wow. It has been a looong time since I've seen a Tech performance even close to tonight. In all honestly, the game ended after the second period. Tech took their foot off the gas, started dumping in every puck and Gwoz... well if he is a "like-minded" person, I don't know who pairs up with him. I agree he was sending a message to his players by leaving the goalie out and letting Tech run up the score. DU tonight looked exactly like they played at BU a few weeks back. They went through the motions and got lit up at both ends of the ice, only in this game they didn't catch fire in the last 10 minutes and make a game of it.

Seeing Tech in person, I actually feel better about Tech now (regardless of tonight's score) because I'm seeing positive things that have not been present in years. Some puck control on the PP, crisp passing in the o-zone, a solid breakout of the D-zone with purpose and a plan, not bank every puck up and off the glass into neutral ice. I can't even recall the last time I saw Tech cycle the puck in the O-zone. Blake is for real. How no other team picked up on him (other than maybe his age) is beyond me. He has good poise with the puck and clearly can make good decisions and is creative with the puck in the o-zone.

Having watched Tech hockey for about 20 years now, there were some things I saw that left me without words because I've never seen a Tech team play like this. The hockey gods have bestowed a small measure of justice on the Huskies for the mess that college hockey has become over the last few months. I guess now I'll have to start looking forward to the day when this is called a win rather than an upset.

I'll end it the same way I started it. Wow.

...and my work here is done. I feel a little guilty for enjoying that so much.

He had a lot of options, but there is the familial connection. It was always going to be Tech or Northern.
He reminds me a lot of his uncle Jimmy, how he skates. Needs to work on burying his chances though.

for the record, I don't disagree with anything co14 said. I was just having some fun getting him or her all riled up.
