10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

Re: 10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

ok. its Friday. we can talk hockey. who's in net for Tech?

What an excellent looking question... in fact does anyone have lineups or at least goalies for both squads? I think MTU can easily split this weekend, but it'll probably depend on who's in net which night and how hot they can get. As for DU, gotta assume Murray plays tonight, but will they keep riding him or try to Finnish Tech on Saturday?

Central Wisconsin doesn't have a symphony, just saying. Also, his wife is a St. Clouud Hockey fan.

Truth (sort-of).

My wife is a St Cloud fan and Central WI does not have a symphony. We do however have a symphonic band which my wife had joined for many seasons and I joined for one season. It faied to live up to my experiances with the SGFITW so I didn't go back. (Well that and the fact that they gave the snare solo in 1812 Overture to someone who never played drums before just because they were a band teacher and she "needed the experiance"...)

And for the record, if my wife made me pick between watching MTU hockey or going to watch ANY symphony, I'm picking Tech hockey every day of the week and twice on Saturday night.

See you all at the rink this weekend. Stop by and say hi - even the Denver fans (FYI - Tech fans are nice to visitors, we just have strong opinions). I'll be down at the glass doing photography most of the time. I'm pulling out the one-year Andy Sutton Anaheim Ducks jersey for Friday night and going old skool with Jim Storm Hartford Whalers for Sat night.

I think Tech will have a strong showing this w/e. I'd expect Mel to switch things up a bit and I think Denver will be complacent. I predict a split if Tech can play a disciplined game and if their goaltending is strong. Shots on goal should be about even, but Denver may have a stronger blue line. Sorry to hear that Johnstone is out. He's been at the top of his game. I'll be interested to see how Gordic does after being out for quite a while. I wonder which line he'll play with. I'm watching for Ryan Furne to have a big game soon. He's one of Tech's top talents but is off to a slow start.

As strong as Tech has been from the start, I think Denver's strength and offensive abilities will carry them past a tough Tech side.

3-1 and 4-2

You talk about DU's strength and offensive ability and then claim that DU will hold MTU to 3 goals on the weekend? Tech is averaging 3 gpg, I highly doubt they get held to 3 for the weekend. Do I think there is a good chance they get swept? sure but I see Tech scoring more than 3 goals this weekend.

If Tech gets to OT, I like our chances!

DU is in "Beast Mode." Tech will be lucky to score three this weekend. :D

I just think the dogsled ride up to Houghton may take a bit out of them. :D

Thats fine, but don't be like dubbie and claim toughness and offense will carry them and then call DU to cut MTU's scoring in half.

Re: 10/28-10/29 Michigan Tech vs. Denver - Don't Leave without your Ice Cream

Does either side have a blog or newspaper that lists starting lineups on game day?

Hey I could've said that Denver would sweep 5-0 5-0....but I didn't. I picked what I picked because I think they will be close, touch and hard fought games. However, I feel Denver has the strength to wear down Tech and control possession of the puck.

DU's SID will post the line-ups on this blog about 15 minutes before the game.

Here is last Saturday's line-up. I wouldn't expect any changes except 3rd goalie Zack Hope is not on the trip.. DU will go with 7 D, 11 forwards and 2 goalies. The two extra players on the trip are forwards Nate Dewhurst and Ty Loney.

More than likely UND resented the Final 5 revenue sharing since they brought 50+% of the fans. DU's issue was likely the need for more name brand opponents in a media market with seven professional sports teams.

Always difficult to predict a WCHA sweep on the road with arduous travel, Tech playing well and DU midterms around this time of year. That being said, two criticisms of DU in recent seasons was a lack of blowout victories and little third line scoring. They got both last Saturday night, so maybe time for optimism. I'll predict sweep and be happy with a split or better.

And DG pipes up with more delusion and failed rationalization...

Hey, how much more money is UND going to make from the NCHC tourney? Too funny...

And nothing like those name-brand schools such as St. Cloud, Duluth, Miami and Western Michigan.

Duluth is the defending champions...easy to market that.
Miami...very good team...perrenial NCAA tourney team.
St. Could and WM...we had to make sure we had a nice number of teams in the conference.

Shortsighted, UMD won't be easy to market forever...they have had 2 good seasons under Sandy...

Always great to receive feedback from our friends in the Big10.

I'd rather be in the NCHC with our eight schools, than in the current WCHA with the 12 existing schools. Unfortunately we have to wait until 2013.

Always great to receive feedback from our friends in the Big10 who saved college hockey by forming a new conference with Penn State.

Forced participant. Catalyst. Which of these concepts is tripping you up?

First off, they didn't even bring up UNO, which is probably the most fair one to bring up. Both UNO and Miami look like good programs right now, with the "Bla"s coaching them. But what happens to the progams A.B. (After Blais and Blaisi)? The point is, we don't know.
