Your program's Mount Rushmore

Re: Your program's Mount Rushmore

I'll throw in Cheddy Thompson as well, as he led the Tigers following WWII, and coached CC in the first 5 Final Fours, winning the 1950 title.

Good choice. I would also like to add the Colorado Springs flag (because I can).

Re: Your program's Mount Rushmore

For SLU:

Coach: Joe Marsh in a landslide.
Goaltenders: Rob Perani and Derek Gustafson
D'Men: Dan Laperrierre and Brian McColgan
Forwards: Brian Macfarlane, Brandon Dietrich, and Erik Anderson

I know, that's more than four - but if I wanted to learn how to count, I would have gone to Clarkson and not to St. Lawrence. LOL.

Hi Brian

Joe Marsh: Yes.
Goaltenders: Gustafson? No way. He played one year at SLU and never made it in the NHL. I'd have Weicker ahead of him.

D: Good choices, but it's awfully hard to leave out Pete McGeough. Or Kent Carlson.

Forwards: Sorry, I can't agree with either Dietrich and Anderson (although I'm more comfortable with Erik Anderson). Dietrich is very similar to Gustafson - could have been an all-time SLU great, but sorry, he played two years and disappeared. There is no way Jamie Baker doesn't make this list: only injury prevented him from being the all-time scoring leader, he went on to be voted team MVP of the SJ Sharks, and I think he's still a part of the organization as an announcer. And I'll take Pete Lappin (the actual all-time scoring leader!!!) over Dietrich or Anderson, too.

You could also make good cases for several other people based on factors other than playing careers: how about Ron Mason, Bill Torrey, Mike Keenan, Jacques Martin, and Ray Shero?

Alaska-Anchorage: Brush Christianson, Rob Conn, Mike Peluso, Curtis Glencross, Dean Larson, Derek Donald

Glencross is a nice player and all but he only played two years at UAA. I love Robbie Conn and Derek Donald but wouldn't include them.

My list would be Brush, Peluso, Larson and Justin Johnson.

J.J. was the heart and soul of the team for his years and while his production was insignificant his play and leadership as well as efforts throughout his pro career (a fan favorite for EVERY team he ever played for) give him the nod in my book. He's my "Teddy Roosevelt".

Re: Your program's Mount Rushmore

I might have missed it, but I didn't see Garret Raboin suggested for SCSU.

I will probably start the polls for the schools that have over a dozen nominees sometime next week. Remember, only 19 nominees are allowed. St. Lawrence (18 nominees), Minnesota (18), Clarkson (15), North Dakota (14), and Boston University (14) will probably go up first. If there is a strong reason to have over 20 nominees, then we could have two polls to get the number down to 19 and then vote from there; however, I don't think any school needs more than 19 nominees.

Re: Your program's Mount Rushmore

One last one for SLU: Terry Slater 167 points in just 3 years. My father would lose it if he wasn't at least listed in the SLU greatest list.

Re: Your program's Mount Rushmore

In conjunction with this thread, I have created polls where you can select which program you follow. This will be used when doing the voting for each program's Mount Rushmore.

For example, I follow North Dakota. In the poll to select which 4 people will represent North Dakota, my vote will be given more weight than a Minnesota fan's vote. Likewise, if I vote in the Minnesota poll, my vote will not count as much as that Minnesota fan's vote. This will allow anyone to vote in any of the polls, but will also give more weight to the fans of that specific program.

You can "sign up" to follow more than 1 team, but then your vote's weight will be divided by the number of programs that you follow.

The polls for which program you follow will be open for the next 31 days, and are located in the polls section of the Men's D-1 thread.

EDIT: Here are the links to the three polls (can't do 1 poll with all 59 programs)

Poll #1 - Air Force - Denver

Poll #2 - Ferris State - North Dakota

Once again, another awesome idea and fun exercise to pass the offseason.

Thanks for all the hard work on this FS23!
